Excellent squirrel trap
Excellent trap for squirrels. I used black oil sunflower seeds for bait and have caught 11 so far since I purchased it last week. It is easy to set and functions flawlessly. The only problem I have is I have to spend lots of time watching it because I catch them so fast. If I need a day off, I just don’t set the trap.

Small Animals Trap
Trap seems to be well made for the price, works pretty good even tho I haven't caught anything in it yet, bought the wrong kind of feed bait, gonna try something different, but the trap is good, heavy door locks in place after dropping with a push lever to open, hair trigger platform inside trap sets off easily too! I'm sure I'll catch some squirrels sooner or later with it when I find the right bait attractant tho! Thanks! Mr. Benny B. (NEW UPDATE) I just caught my first squirrel in my trap this morning, finally found the right bait & trap worked like a charm! Bait goes in the very back of trap & sensitive easy trigger platform inside sets off easily when squirrels step on it to eat the bait! Fantastic trap! I highly recommend this one!!! 👍 Extremely satisfied customer!!! Mr. Benny B.

Pesty animal trap
I had three of these (different brands) before i ordered this brand. It is a good trap, but the quality is not quite where it needs to be compared to the ones i already have. It sets ok but is not as easy as the others and the corners are not square, so it may sit a little lop sided on harder surfaces. With a little better quality control steps this could be an exceptional trap, but at the price the quality needs to be stepped up first. I would recommend but would not HIGHLY recommend until quality for price is improved somewhat. But the traps do work! I have caught squirrels, rats and possums with them.

Somewhere between terrible and awful!
Two problems: 1. Trigger mechanism is somewhere between terrible and awful. At the door end the rod isn't bent enough to adequately engage the very small projection on the back of the door. It is nearly impossible to get the trigger set so the door will remain open. Once it is finally set, most of the time the door slides closed while I'm walking away. 2. The door has a tendency to want to tilt slightly to the left, which causes it to bind in the slide grooves. When this happens, the door doesn't slide closed even when the trigger is set off. I absolutely do not recommend this trap.

Similar to an earlier version
Trapping feral kitties who set up their tiny trio on my porch for TNR. Set up two traps for the mother daughter duo. As the stray, meaning dumped male, Sylvester, asked to come in the house to the kennel rather than walk into the carrier. He’s had a successful vet appointment. For the traps, set two up next to each other. The cats are use to me calling them for food. Upon working in their habits since November to make trapping easy.Today’s the day. Cat walked in this trap. Toward the wild caught sardines. Trap didn’t close. Cat walked out. As though she suspected something. Despite the traps being outside tied open for a month until we could get an appointment.Trap hack for quick release, add Vaseline to the hinge when set. Experienced trapper taught me this to help.Compared to the older version this trap is a little harder to close leaning on the floor panel. Upon setting have tested the trap a few times. Compared to the other that’s not been used yet this one requires more weight.Added wild caught tuna to the older trap. It closed easy peasy. Easily nabs the little lady. She feels so safe on the porch from working on grooming the cats for this event she didn’t wince when it shut. Kept enjoying her tuna. Meaning less stress for her.She didn’t freak when I walked up to cover her with a baby sheet. The only thing that the trap, old or new, doesn’t have is a clip to hold the gate closed. A friend lent me a trap that has a clip.Used a piece of wire to tie it shut. Since Tschuss tried to slip out. Her name means goodbye in German. The kitties aren’t very hefty despite eating well this winter. This one kitty probably weighs about eightish pounds and is less than a year. Maybe nine months.Tschuss was on the panel that should have helped shut the trap.Added more Vaseline and hoping this new trap works for kitty number two by tomorrow night for their Thursday appointment.Happy with the trap configuration. Like that the back opens and has a wire clip to create a sturdy back end. Easy to set.Only issue is the trap requires a little extra pressure to close. Hoping this next kitty will full court pressure the panel to help the cage close.Good deal. Should work long term when nabbing other kitties when they show up for TNR.

Quality control questionable
I purchased 2 of these. One works well. The other does not. It won't stay set because two separate parts on it were not manufactured correctly. The tripping arm where the two pieces press together is bent at an angle so it does not hold, and instead always slips off. I can possibly bend this to the correct angle myself but there's another major defect. On this one the end of the trip rod that holds the door up was cut too short and cannot hold up the door. I can't think of any fix for this so this 2nd cage is worthless. If they tested these before shipping they wouldn't have this problem. Not really worth my time to box up and return the one. Very disappointing.

Well built, easy to set.
Very nice, well built trap. I always used Hav-a-Heart but it appears they discontinued the model like this trap. This is heavier duty than the old Hav-a-Heart. Perfect for squirrels and chipmunks.
