Pachmayr Renegade Browning Hi Power Wood Grips

Third set of these affordable and beautiful grips I’ve bought for this and two other pistols. But like two sets of Beretta factory grips purchased, these also have the same concern. The insert pops out of the panel and of course flies into oblivion, unnoticed until it’s too late. For those I replaced, a light sanding of the pocket and “dot” of Gorilla crazy glue seems better than the factory adhesive. I don’t know what the factories are using, but clearly it lacks in holding strength from even light recoil handguns. Mine have never come out again. They do look and fit great though.

Very good grip surface. Fine fit and finish. Grip color is more red than brown but ok.

Finish is nice, the grips protrude past the heel of the frame and wobble a bit. Not a deal breaker and it just might be my pistol. Still better than the cracked and worn originals.

Every other set of grips (including Pachmayr's rubber wrap-around grips) for the Browning Hi-Power / P35 design (and clones) pistol are squared off right under the thumb safety, so when the safety is off (down) it actually sits right on top of the grips. This makes it hard to hook your thumb under the safety lever to engage the safety, so you must press on the side of the safety lever to engage it using friction. For those who put thousands of rounds through their carry pistol doing training and practice, this really tends to wear out and tear up your thumb. These grips have the tops cut away at the rear to allow lots of clearance around the thumb safety, so you can easily hook your thumb under the safety lever to engage the safety. Check the design on all the others - VZ, Hogue, etc, etc. They're all squared off under the safety lever. These grips are super-thin, very pretty, and greatly improve the ergonomics of the P35. I've seen others comment that the medallions pop off, but mine have stayed put so far. If they pop off a drop of epoxy cement will fix them for good.

For the price they are decent grips. Fit is perfect. They are slim (which I prefer) and the checkering feels good, it gives you a good hold without being too aggressive.They look nice but do have a cosmetic flaw, in certain light at certain angles it appears some checkering appears shinier than the others so it looks like the checkering is not uniform. It's not easily noticeable and will probably disappear as they wear in but it subtracts one star.

These are absolutely beautiful and a great value for the money. The wood almost glows in the light. The grips really change the feel of the gun, making it much more ergonomic. The checkering is very positive in feel. unlike the stock grips, though my stock grips have been through more than 5000 rounds, and were somewhat worn.
