we decided to purchase Miele Canister vacuum because my house already has many Miele appliances which we like. But I didn't know there are so many ...
Purchased this back in Dec 2017. I used Orek and Dyson but I never knew you are not supposed to use roller type to vacuum hardwood/tile floors as roller can spin/push dust away and it can scratch hardwood floor over time. With Orek/Dyson, after I vacuumed, my wife had to mop the floors with microfiber and still pick up lots dust. So after a bit of research, we decided to purchase Miele Canister vacuum because my house already has many Miele appliances which we like. But I didn't know there are so many different types and some can cost arm and leg.You need to understand that pretty much all miele canister vacuum use the same motor (1200W Vortex). The only differences are color, shape/size, attachment storage, electrical cord length, floor nozzle/brush, rotary control dial to push button switch and powered handle(wand). Depending on what types of flooring you have in your house, you need to purchase correct Miele vacuum as this C1 Limited Edition is perfect for Hardwood floor/tile and perhaps very low carpet only. If you have medium to high carpet, then you need to purchase one with power wand, such as Miele Compact C2 Electro+Along with C1 Limited, I also purchased HEPA filter (SF-HA30), and floor brush (Miele Parquett Twister SBB 300-3). If you are buying C1, I HIGHLY recommend getting SBB 300-3 because one that comes with this unit doesn't swivel. Also, this unit does not come with HEPA filter so you might want to buy HEPA filter (SA-HA30) if this is what you want. Parquett Twister SBB 300-3 will make your life so much easier and does a better job than Sbb parquet-3 hard floor brush which comes with C1.It's been almost 4 months and I've been using this on weekly basis. My wife still mops the floor with microfiber but instead of every week, she only mops every other week now. According to her, she noticeably sees much less white dust after we started using Miele C1 even after mopping every other week so I guess it's doing the job much better compared to my old Orek and Dyson. Not sure if you already noticed, we are a bit of clean freak as my wife and I suffer from seasonal allergies. I HIGHLY recommend C1 if you ONLY have hardwood floor/tile and maybe very low-level carpet. Our house is around 95% hardwood floor and rest are travertine tiles so C1 is perfect for us. I originally was going to purchase Miele Complete C3 Calima thinking since it cost more so it must vacuum better than C1 and I liked some of the features but if you do your research and if you are smart, you realize that you don't need to spend $650 when C1 does the same job. However, if you have Medium to High carpet, C1 is NOT for you, even if you purchase Twister floor brush separately. The air suction power is not powerful enough to spin the brush and that's why you need to purchase a different model with a powered wand to provide separate electrical power to rotate the brush.

Quality
I have been searching for a quality canister vacuum when the Miele brand surfaced.Several sites ranked the Miele brand at or near the very top with good ratings. There are some complaints such as a short power cord while others pointed to where manufactured. After further reading, it became apparent there is a strong preference toward the models made in Germany. Some C1 model reviews stated made in China while others stated made in Germany. Then, I made another discovery that took a little more effort to ensure I would be getting the preferred model made in Germany. The Miele Classic C1 Limited Edition Canister was the winner and is made in Germany as stated in some other reviews.Ours arrived today and we are very satisfied with the quality, the power, the overall quietness, the retractable power cord, and the quality of all the attachments. The handle telescopes making its length adjustable and accommodating. The unit was very well packaged and made in Germany is printed on the outside of the box. A made in Germany label is also on the vacuum itself. See photos.

A luxury vacuum cleaner
I really didn't need a new vacuum, but I toyed with the idea of getting a Miele for a while, and there was such a good price on this that I decided to go for it. Despite having high expectations from all the good reviews, I was still impressed.First, this thing is small -- it is not a compact model (I don't think), but it is plenty small to be able to be stored in smaller cabinets or cupboards. It is also pretty light and not at all a pain to drag around.Second, this "feels" like an extremely well-made machine. The vacuum gently revs up when you turn it on, and gently winds down when you turn it off. The fit and finish of the vacuum is excellent. The knobs and buttons are sturdy, and the hoses attach with a satisfying "click." The retractable cord is something I've never had on a vacuum and it is super convenient.Third, it is very quiet. The noise from the rush of air going into the hose is louder than the noise of the vacuum itself. It's very impressive and among the quietest vacuums I've heard. Now for some other considerations. This comes with only a basic air filter. If you have smells or allergies, you can separately buy the HEPA or Active AirClean filter and add it. In addition, the included attachments are not great on carpet. The rug/carpet mode on the included floor head is very hard to push around. I ended up buying the turbo carpet head, and it works much better than the included head. I highly recommend it if you have carpet (even very flat/low carpet). Taken together, this will add about $120 to the cost of the vacuum, but it will basically upgrade it to match some of the more expensive Miele machines. The only thing this particular vacuum won't do is use the electric-powered floor attachments. But the turbo carpet head does just fine on its own.

Looking to change up your arm days at the gym? Try this!
I love my mother's Miele but somewhere between the years some wiz kid engineer must have changed the hard wood floor head design. She'll suck tight to the floor and drag your dirt around without ever thinking about collecting a thing. I have to constantly force feed her "piles" of debris. By the time I've finished reposition this beast to clean one room I'm worn out and have biceps like Arnold.
