With a difference
Great to read a book about all the usual things but woven into a very good story. Well done to the author.

Another solid story from Lucy Clarke
This is another solid read from Lucy Clarke. It's by no means a literary masterpiece, but it's a great popcorn thriller with an atmospheric setting and a very well considered cast of characters.I really like Lucy Clarke's writing - it flows effortlessly, and she has a real knack for summing up complex emotions and feelings with concise clarity; I regularly find myself thinking 'yes, that's exactly it!' The four women in this story are all very relatable in this way, except maybe Joni. Their back stories are well drawn and I really enjoyed spending time with them. The character arcs are strong, which makes the ending satisfying - although I was a little disappointed by the villain(s) and their motivations and actions.I raced through this book in a few days as it was so pacy and gripping. It's not this author's best work - my favourites of hers are You Let Me In, The Castaways, and Last Seen - but it's good. It's a little straightforward and formulaic, but it's an easy and gripping read.

Audible makes it better
I joined the happily ever after book box subscription and this is march 2025 book chosen. I went in blind and I’m not sure if I’ve read any books by this author prior to this. This is much more than I expected it to be. Popcorn suspense, wasn’t as pulled in as I thought I’d beMy thoughts wereGroup of friends go on holiday and take a different kind of holiday to the norm and go hiking.I was a tiny bit correct but when they got to the place they were going to they find that this area is a place where a girl went missing, unbeknown by them hence starting the suspense. It was tense thrilling and a very well developed plot with well rounded characters. I listened to this on audible as listening is easier since my stroke as I’ve an arm that’s not so strong yet to hold a book with. Both hands. The audio is super good the narrator putting the emphasis as it should be on areas to bring you in.I find I kept thinking it was like a book I read before but can’t think which oneThe friends we so different from each other so very easy to identify.Going by this book I’ll certainly be seeking out more by this author. My first subscription book by happy ever after. It’s great to be part of others reading the same book.If I carried on reading the physical book or ebook I’d have put this down.the narrator made it live for me

Gripping page turner
Whizzed through my first Lucy Clarke book. Lost a star as a little repetitive at times but overall good strong characters, storyline, twists and nail biting read right to the end.
