Great replacement remote
Great genuine replacement remote, bought myself and my father in law one, works the sky box without problems just have to program it to operate the tv as well, which wasn't an issue.

Ok except that the volume and mute buttons don't work!
It works well in general and is better than my old one which had lost its facility to rewind/go back...but unfortunately, as some other reviewers have mentioned, the volume control doesn't work, including the mute button which is pretty annoying as I thought this was meant to be an Original Sky+ HD remote. So what has gone wrong here?

A Good Non Official Sky+ HD Remote.
A non genuine Sky+ HD remote that comes in an "Official Sky Branded Retail Packaging" as stated. This remote has the branding "Manufactured by Universal Electronics BV" on the back of it. When looking them up online, they often sell their products under the brand "One For All". Their website states they are the "inventor of the universal remote". The instructions that come with the remote refer to it as a Sky series universal remote control. What's differences between this and the official Sky+ HD remote?: Visually, not a lot to be honest...the casing looks more or less identical when compared next to an official one. However, the back of this Sky remote is all smooth plastic, missing that thick rubbery like padding that genuine Sky+ HD remotes have. So unfortunatly this controller is prone to slipping/sliding around and may fall off arm chairs if accidentally knocked. The buttons also feel a lot more stiff when pressed, not as soft to press down like the official remote. All the Sky+ HD box functions worked straight out the box and required no set up. But like most TV remotes (depending on the TV brand) the volume controls may not work straight out the box and will need to be manualy programed into the remote. The instructions manual says if you have a TV made by SONY then the remote control will already be set up for your TV (I own LG TV's so I couldn't confirm). The volume controls failed to work on my LG OLED out the box, but it didn't take to long to setup as the manual comes with a helpful list of TV brand codes that can be keyed into the remote to get TV functions working: - 1. Find your TV brand codes from the manual. - 2. Turn on your Sky box and TV. - 3. Press TV on the replacement Sky remote. - 4. Hold down Select and the Red button together for about 2 seconds until the red light at the top flashes twice. - 5. Then key in one the 4-digit TV code for your TV brand, the red light will then flash twice to show it's registered. - 6. Try using the TV volume on the remote to see if it works. - 7. If it doesn't work, go back to step 3 and then try another 4-digit code until you find one that works. Unfortunaly the manuals TV brand codes didn't have LG in the list (don't know why as a popular brand). But they do have an "Others" right at the end of the brand list, and the code "2210" worked for both our LG TV's (E9 & G5). Overall so far so good, there are a few reviews here that said the control stopped working between 6-12 months, so only time will tell. However, if this does stop working for me any time soon then I'll just phone Sky and order an official Sky remote directly from them. So if you are looking for an official Sky remote you'll need to visit the Sky shop/accessories web page (get the phone number listed there), then phone them direct as all Sky remotes are "unavailable from our online store" and have to be ordered over the phone. (Review relevent, since this product is presenting it self as an official Sky product, some verified purchase users believe its a genuine SKY remote)

Looks to be genuine
The day after posting my original profuct review, I was throwing out the Sky remote box it came in and discovered that in the bottom there were in fact 2 Duracell AA batteries inside a small white cardboard box! So, hence I have changed my review from 4 to 5 stars Apologies to the retailer for this and would recommend any future purchaser of this item to check the packaging thoroughly before posting their review 🙂 It does seem to be a genuine Sky product ...was wrapped and boxed in Sky packaging and feels a lot weightier than previous remotes I have purchased and works as it should. Hopefully this will last a whole lot longer than those purchased previously. The only thing I am a bit miffed about is that 2 days after I purchased it, the price was reduced by £2! 😒update......the discovery of the batteries cheered me up though 😄

Genuine replacement, good quality
It’s a genuine replacement. Put the batteries (provided, Duracell) and it works. Didn’t need to programme for the TV which was useful, as Polaroid wasn’t listed. Hopefully it will last as long as its predecessor, so around 15 years.

Buy this one….
Brilliant! I made the mistake of buying a different one a few weeks ago on Amazon! Totally useless, but this one’s fine. Doesn’t even need programming…very happy!

TV control is not guaranteed. It seems dependent on age of TV. Could not get it to pair with a Sony Bravia and as its Sky+ there is no sky support.
