The One and Only Ruby

They say that an elephant has a great memory. Ruby shows us that in this book, as she tells her story of her what happened to her before she arrived at the Exit 8 Big Top Mall.Top Things to look forward to as you read this book:* Elephants* Growing Up* Finding a FamilyMy children and I enjoyed this book. We felt a lot of emotions as Ruby shared her story with Ivan and Bob. What she went through in Africa and later when she arrived at the Mall. This novel was beautifully written. It touches on hard subjects like, poaching and drought conditions in Africa. But I feel that the way Katherine Applegate wrote it was appropriate for children.Definitely a book we will add to our shelves with the other two books in this series. I hope it doesn't stop here with Ruby's story. My children and now I, can't get enough of these stories.

I swear Katherine can’t write a bad book. We finally got a book about miss Ruby. I love how her story gets more flushed out like in Bob’s story. Especially her history and how she got to the mall. It’s a coming of age story for Ruby that also explores the dark side of humans that really should be stopped. I loved even more that even though Stella wasn’t physically in the story, she definitely had an affect on those loved ones for her that was left behind and how it’s affected them in their grief.

This story focuses in on Ruby, and we learn about her backstory. Ruby shares her memories, including the ups and downs of her childhood.

My daughter was waiting for the book to be released. She read "One and Only Ivan" and "One and Only Bob". She was excited to get and read this book. It was a perfect addition to the other books she read already.

“The One and Only Ruby” is a middle grade novel by Katherine Applegate. It will be released on May 1, 2023. And yes, I preordered this book months ago.I received an eARC from NetGalley and HarperCollins Children’s Books.This story is about sweet Ruby. Just like the preceding books of “The One and Only Ivan” and “The One and Only Bob”, the story of Ruby does not disappoint. It was like catching up with an old friend. Comfortable. Joyous. This book allows readers to learn about Ruby’s back story, the interactions that Ruby had with Stella, and shift into the present and get to know Ruby with her herd.I highly recommend this book for middle grade readers. I simply think everyone should discover Katherine Applegate because her books are a treasures.

It is rare to find a book that is meant for children but packs a punch with adults. Katherine Applegate managed to imbue each of the One and Only books with wonder, laughter, fear, love, sorrow, empathy, pain, friendship, longing and belonging.

Wow!!! Sequels are often not as good as the first book. This one was as good, if not better than the first two. I loved the story of Ruby. This book explains where Ruby came from. We learned about her mother and how she made it to the mall. This is a powerful book! It’s a story of growing up, family, and remembering/honoring those that came before.I highly recommend this book! This is a book for all ages. I can’t wait to own this book and share it with others!!

My 9 year old daughter was so excited to hear this book was out (she loved the others in the series when they read them in class). She reported that she loved this book too, an immediately became obsessed with elephants 😅

Such a great book for my daughter! We already read the first two so knew this one was coming home with us!

I have purchased paperback book. The story is is very interesting, but you need to first read the one and only ivan and the one and only bob, not the movie because it has some scenes that is not in the book and some scenes that are not shown but there were in the book, after reading those books then you will understand this story perfectlyI want to give it 10stars but the option was not there
