Unbelievably sharp!
Forgive me rather stating the obvious. But not all knives are created equal as this particular model shows. My knives get used in the garage or on a boat for rope work and generally knocking about. If you’re going to have a tool you want it to work. I’ve bought the little £9.99 pocket knives and they are acceptable and it’s therapeutic to sharpen them often, actually all the time as they really don’t retain an edge! For £23.00 this knife is not a great step up in purchase price but it’s manufacturing quality is ahead in leaps and bounds. If I'm writing this review about an hour after it’s been delivered then rest assured it’s a damn fine piece of kit. I’ve been out in the garage, ouch it’s cold and wet outside, and put a lanyard on it. You only drop one knife overboard before you realise everything in marine use needs a lanyard. I used the knife to cut some 3mm braided cord, all I did was rest the blade on the line and it fell through cutting it in a manner that can only be termed effortless. Talk about mightily impressed! So it’s sharp, has a serrated edge for the heavier lines and if I ever need to clear a prop it will make short work of almost anything. It looks great and has some clever touches of additional grip (I think called jimping) at the base of the blade. There is a nice touch of a pocket clip with a lanyard hole. There’s no flex in the blade to handle joint and the locking mechanism shouts security and safety at you.I look at it as my Christmas present to myself. In these Covid times we all need a little something that makes you go “aaahhhhhh”. I’m sure anyone would love to receive it as a very useful and well made present.

Absolute bargain
Great little knife for the money... opens and closes one handed smoothly. Same weight but a little shorter than the more expensive Delica but the design is just as good. I like the longer blade thumb hole more .. the blade length is the same as the Delica. Delica handle is slightly more ergonomic and better molded and the blade is a higher grade steel on the Delica . . But for general use its perfect and less than half the price of my Delica 4... can't put mine down.. I also like the half serrated edge... it really bites into a branch... Just be careful if you are flicking it closed.. the blade is slightly less stiff than the Delica and it can swing on to your nuckle if you are over zealous... Overall though, superb quality from the spiderco family.. even if it is technically not a true spiderco... but don't let that put you off this bargain jem...

Just right for when you could use a combo blade
There is not a wide choice of combo blade knives due to a belief that they are not easy resharpened. Probably true for most peeps but there are occasions when the serrated edge has value, typically cutting rope or webbing. So for occasional serrated use this blade is perfect and anyway the 8Cr13MoV blade material is reasonably hard wearing assuming correct heat-treatment.The Byrd sub-brand offers great value for money over the Spyderco main-brand and I personally prefer the comet to the round hole. On my example excellent fit and finish including blade centering.Be aware that the blade locks so its not UK legal carry without reason.

Perfect pocket knife not to big one hand opening and ...
Perfect pocket knife not to big one hand opening and the grip is really positive. Looks like and feels like an oreo. Strange but true. Teth are carved into one side only tho not a problem just looks a bit lazy. For the price it's extremely good value
