4 months in - so far so good!
Review for: Russell Hobbs Brushed Stainless Steel Electric 1.7L Cordless Kettle: £32Four months in and I'm happy with this kettle. It boils water quickly and quietly. The cup volume measurer is useful. It feels sturdy and well built. The blue ring light shows clearly when it's in use. You can lift it off the base once it has boiled. It does all the basics well in my view. All in all a good purchase for £32.

Quiet, clean design, small footprint
Clean, clear, simple design that is at lear 4Db quieter than the previous kettle and an excellent pour.Simple buttons built in to the kettle handle, and a clear display make for easy used and a compact footprint.

Really quiet, fast boil and easy variable temperature setting
This Russell Hobbs kettle was more expensive than I hoped to spend but it does have a 2-year warranty. I like everything about it and in many ways it is better than my old Duronic variable temperature kettle which packed up after 2.5 years. When it arrived I at first thought I'd ordered the wrong size because it's shorter than my previous 1.7 litre kettle. However, it's just a slightly more squat shape.. It really is very quiet when boiling - it starts silently then builds a little so you know it's actually boiling. The variable temperature control is really easy and it also shows you the starting temperature of the water. The kettle does retain the heat quite well for a while after boiling. It also has a really nice pouring spout, with no bubbling up or spalshing like I've had with previous kettles. All in all I'm glad I chose this brand. I just hope it lasts beyond the warranty period.

Noisy, otherwise great…
Unfortunately the first kettle did not sit properly on the base. Great returns policy and another sent straight away. It works really well. Quick and no spill pour BUT it is much noisier than any other kettle I have had - it’s advertised as ‘up to 75% quieter’. Not quite sure whether to return and hope the next one works as it should. Will be asking a couple of friends to assess the noise tomorrow !!

Quiet kettle
Very quiet kettle and temperature selection a great option once you get used to the selection process.

Good kettle but breaks too quickly
This is my third Russell Hobbs kettle, and even though they break too quickly I am still sticking with the model because it looks nice, is quick to boil and has a good pop up lid and nice blue light when switched on. Both my previous kettles’ lids failed and the black plastic switch to turn it on also failed. This is a definite design fault. I’ve managed to get an extra year out of my last one by sticking tape to the lid and persevering with the very annoying switch (once it breaks the kettle won’t stay on reliably any more). However that’s over a year more of it not being in landfill! I thought I had only had the kettle a couple of years but in fact I can see on Amazon that I bought it 6 and a half years ago so in fact that isn’t so bad. A better design and it would definitely have lasted longer though!
