Excellent - Recommended
I use these muslin bags for making marmalade, and have also used them in making jelly, like quince jelly. They are excellent. Recommended.

Rice cooking now a pleasant task and no more scraping pans!
Cooking rice used to be a nightmare task - not any longer! Pop two cups of brown long grain rice into the muslin bag and knot the top of the bag. Soak in cold water for one hour and drain. Pour in one and a half pints of boiling water with two teaspoons of salt and bring back to boil. Turn heat to low setting and PUT LID on pan. Cook for one hour then turn off heat and leave for further thirty minutes. Do not take the lid off at any stage! Untie knot and turn out into container. Fluff up with fork. Perfect rice with no messy pan. I suppose you could re-use the bag if need be, but why bother as they are really cheap when you consider the amount of fuss and bother they save.

Does the trick but too much hassle
I had an occasion to use these muslin bags and I must admit they work fine. I made a perfect soup not worrying I would have to fish out the herbs when I was done. However it was a little big too much hassle to prepare the bags before I could use them. It took 3 rounds of shaking loose fibers out after rinsing and drying the bags before they were usable. It could be easily resolved if the cloth was sewn round, which unfortunately it isn't. If you are not lazy, as I am, and you are looking for something cheap that works I would recommend this product. For anyone else who just expects to use the bags upon opening, I would advise you to buy something synthetic perhaps. Edit 17 Feb 2013 Scratch the above! When I run out of the bags (I do not reuse them, I could not be bothered with washing) and searched for some alternative, I could not find anything decent. After a while, I must admit that it's a bargain and you won't get so many bags for this price anywhere. And the second time there weren't so many loose fibers as before. I will definitely come back to purchase some more.

Does the job for blackberry wine
Used these for my blackberry wine and my blackberry and elderberry wine. Chucked all the fruit in, tied them up and dropped them in water right off the boil to mash them up. Excellent for extracting the juice whilst retaining the vast majority of the solids. Some seeds slipped through but as I was going to strain the mixture anyway this doesn't really matter. I also cut one bag up and layered it over a funnel for a primary strain to get the thicker parts out (as the strainer I was using was too fine and it took ages without doing this first) which worked well as the muslin is so effective at grabbing the pulp and sediment that I had to keep washing it off the bags every half litre or so. Of course having a handful of strainers with different coarseness (as I now do) is the better idea but it did the job anyway. Cleans out well with boiling water so I should get a few uses out of each bag as despite the boiling water, mashing and squeezing they are still in good condition and only slightly dyed.

Great for making your own oat bath bomb
I use these as my daughter has eczema. We put a cup of oats in and tie it off. The bag is big enough that i can then tie the top to the tap and let the water run through the oats. The bag is soft and durable, so much so that i use the oat bomb as a flannel on her skin an it works wonders. In addition as the bag is so fine it is very easy yo remove the oats afterwards, give them a blast in the washing machine and they are as good as new!

Better than tights!
Considering the price these bag are an amazing deal and of surprisingly high quality, best of all you get 10! I use these when making liqueurs and they're perfect for that application, I would imagine that they would be equally good at straining any solid or semi-solid matter from a liquid, no matter whether you're making beer, wine or perhaps even coffee. They're very easy to clean and can be reused many times. Best of all, no cheesy aftertaste.

Four Stars
Good size, perfect for dry-hopping home brewed beer. I use hop pellets which are supposed to dissolve, but I've tried just chucking them in to the fermenter and ended up with bits of crud siphoned into my bottles. The bags retain the pellets nicely while still allowing that lovely hop aroma to infuse my beer :) I always boil for 10 mins before use to sanitise. Only slight criticism is that around the top of the bags they are slightly fibrous. I tend to fold them over a bit around the top before tieing them up just to avoid any loose fibres ending up in the beer.
