Very easy to use, a great help for feeding wire through a wall
A tube of very useful cable routing rods, suitable for drawing cables through a hole in a wall. The plastic tube come in handy, keeping everything tidy when the rods are not in use, rather than the rods rattling around your toolbox 🧰.You get 10 stiff rods (blue), a slightly shorter and more flexible rod (clear/white), a hook and an adapter piece to attach it to the rods. After drilling the hole in the wall, first making sure no electrics or plumbing is in the area. Feed the rods through the hole, and tape the cable to the end. Then slowly pull the rods back through the hole, dragging the cable behind it.I’m fitting a CCTV camera at the moment and needed to feed a cable outside, this set came in very hand and did the job in minutes, rather than taking hours trying to poke the wire through and hopefully miss the cavity wall, which would send the cable in all directions.A great product that I’m happy to recommend.

Ideal for occasional DIY use
I chose a smaller set like this over the longer 1m section kits for easier storage as it’s unlikely I will use these very often. I bought these to route Ethernet cables through a loft space and they were perfect. The rods are strong and there’s a shorter flexible section you can add to the end so that it will flex when it hits an object - in my case the loft felt.Brass fittings are good quality. It exceeded my expectations for the money so for occasional use I would recommend.Another advantage I found from the shorter rods was that I could add and remove as necessary so that the length wasn’t too long or short when passed through a void.

Warning: 3.3 meters might not be long enough
Just a tip: Think carefully whether 10x 330mm is long enough for you. A 3.3 meter reach is probably enough going up or down a wall, but it's not that far when going under a length of floor. My task was to route internet cable under the floor from a side attic to the middle of a bedroom in a normal size room, and I didn't have quite enough rod to do it, so decided to stop work for the day and buy another identical set so that I could extend. At £8 each, that's £16 I spent, and I now think I'd probably have been better off spending a bit more in the first place to get just one set of better quality rods that had a longer reach.Speaking of quality, these rods are OK and ultimately did the job asked of them, as I was successful pushing Cat 6 cable through with them. However they don't have a heavy duty feel to them, they feel cheap because they are, and wouldn't have coped with thicker cable like proper 2.5mm mains electric cable using the method I used. I accept my method was probably wrong though. Instead of tying the cable to the rod and pushing it along the floor, I could and probably should have attached only string to the rod, pushed the string to where I wanted the cable, tied the other end of the string to the cable, then pulled the cable through with the string - which would totally avoid the rods doing any significant pushing or pulling. That takes a little while longer though and perhaps that does explain why some people end up breaking these rods!

Handy cable access rods
Ideal for accessing awkward places, such as under floorboards and wall cavities, for installing electric, computer or TV cables.Reach is limited to about 3.3 metres, but that is sufficient for most domestic situations.Comes with a small hook and an eye, also a short flexible plastic section.Handy item for most tool boxes.Good values compared to many alternative options. One has to remember to only turn it clockwise, looking along rods, or they will unscrew and leave sections marooned.Best to use this to first pull through a bit of strong mono filament line to then pull trough the cable, rather than tugging too much on these rods, which might pull them apart. It is also worth pulling through another length of monofilament line with the cable, in case you want to later pull through some more cables.Extra Note:I also have a similar set of Hilka rods, bought many years ago, but after moving to a new house, which needed some wiring, couldn't find them, so bought the Silverline version, but later found the Hilka ones. I find there is no significant difference to the Silverline ones. Now have them mixed together in one tube and can't tell the difference.

You get what you pay for, but did the job.
First, the same old adage, you get what you pay for. The rods did the job very well, I needed to feed a number of wires behind a stud wall. They did their job and the wires made it through. The quality is not top notch, I have only used them three times and the flexible head has come away. The flexibility of the rods is also a little stiff. When trying to feed the rods in through a hole about the size of a plug socket, I had to get my hand inside the wall in order to feed the rods up. Then attach the next rod.

Perfect For Use On A Lamp Base
We needed to fit a new cable to a very old standard lamp base. Having looked online first, we found reference to an item like this. After looking at those available on Amazon and their reviews, we decided to purchase this set of cables.Access to the channel which runs through the centre of the lamp base, was perfect. At intervals inside, there appears to be a narrowing of the channel, which place pressure on anything which passes through. Attaching and pulling the cable through, meant using a little more ingenuity!!! We split a length of casing on the cable, trimmed the internal wires back and taped the "push" fitment into the casing. It all worked perfectly, until we reached the very last narrow section, right at the top of the lamp base. The tape gave way!! Luckily, a tiny section of the cable casing had managed to emerge. Use of a pair of pliers completed the whole process!!We are very pleased with this item. It will be a useful and inexpensive piece of equipment in our tool box. Delivery was faster than expected. We can recommend this for any job which is similar the that which is described here.
