Lasting Drama 24H Mechanical Gel Eyeliner, 1 Volcanic Brown

Very pleased with the results. I'm turning 50 next year and have started to find that ultra black eyeliner is looking more harsh and aging and less elegant than it used to, so I wanted to try a brown one instead. I wanted a VERY dark brown and had been eyeing up a prestigious designer brand gel pot eyeliner in the exact colour I wanted, but that was nearly £30! (And it didn't even come with a brush!) I took a chance on this instead at a fraction of the price; I bought both the black and brown and custom blended them myself to get the exact shade I wanted. These are extremely pigmented (especially the black - a little goes a very long way and you only need the tiniest hint to darken the brown by the right amount!) so I dipped the very end of the brush ever so lightly into the black, then picked up a small amount of brown and blended it straight onto the eye. It glides on and blends like a dream; I used the smudger end to soften and blend and repeated until I was happy with the results, but it was very quick to create because both the brush and gel were so easy to work with. This was much better than I was expecting. I even used it on the lower waterline with no irritation at all and I very rarely line the inner lid because my eyes tend to water quite a bit. So far the staying power is excellent. Haven't tried to remove it yet, but I'm sure my trusty micellar water will be up to the job - it makes light work of waterproof mascara. (The photos are unfiltered and unretouched - just a bit blurry as I cropped and zoomed in on a normal pic, but very happy with the results anyway).

Soft application and last well.. would recommend

I have a few products by Maybelline and I've never been disappointed. They are definitely one of the most consistent leaders in their industry IMHO. This little pencil does not disappoint, the staying power is excellent, even without using an eye primer. Glides on lovely and smoothly, which is good because, as with other pencils, if it drags you get these awful creases on the lid (especially as you mature 😉). I use it mainly across my upper lash line a little under the eye to just before the middle of my pupil. The colour of the volcanic bronze was a lovely surprise as there is a tiny hint of glimmer in it, don't be afraid, it's not full on night club mode just a subtle little twinkle when the light catches it. I am going to purchase another one now as it's on a deal and don't want to miss out. I will say, I've knocked a star off, purely because, it isn't smudgeable, and that was one of the things I was looking for. But for pure staying power and not transferring onto my upper lid that hoods over a bit, I would highly recommend it. Hope this has been helpful😁 as it is a minefield out there in choosing makeup products.

Easy to use

I tried this on a whim. I am very glad that I did! The eyeliner is smooth and very pigmented, and comes in a cute, sturdy and small glass jar. The brush that comes with it works great and is really precise. It has a smudging tool on one end, and a precision brush on the other. The eyeliner lasts 12-14 hours on me when I set it with a setting spray. It doesn’t fade much throughout the day and comes off easily with normal face wipes. I really like the brown shade because it doesn’t overpower my light skin and eyes. It makes my makeup look more daytime than nighttime, which is perfect for a professional setting.

I've been using this eyeliner for years- it's my favourite! So easy to apply neatly- I like the twist mechanism in lieu of a sharpener, and the eyeliner stays on well all day long. The gel liner is a happy medium between a pencil and a liquid liner, and it's easy to make it look heavier or lighter depending on what look you are going for. I also love the volcanic brown colour!

This definitely doesn't have the blendability/smudgeability of a normal kohl pencil, I tried using a smudging sponge on this, and all it did was fade the eyeliner into a lighter colour rather than smudge/blend into a wider area. It also provides a rather blunt point, as the crayon is rather thick, so if you're looking to draw quite a thin, precise line, this won't do. However, it does have longevity, although I wear it with eye primer so maybe the primer helped with longevity as well. I tried wearing it for 12+ hrs straight and it never smudged on me. I found it good for tightlining/lining the waterline of the eyelid(s), but I found it very difficult to draw a winged/flicked eyeliner look with this pencil - in fact I gave up on it. The most I could do was draw a very, very faint shadow of a small flick up the corner of my eyes, and it was barely visible - I could apply a lot more pressure to produce a more obvious line, but since the crayon is quite thick and blunt, I suspect the wing/flick would be quite crude, so I didn't want to force it. Therefore, it really isn't something I'd recommend for flicked/winged eyeliner looks, but it's fine for tightlining.

Adoro questo prodotto, bel marrone, non appiccica, non cola, non si gruma, facile da mettere e da stendere. Pennellino in dotazione fantastico e quello "nuovo" ancora più bello, utile e versatile. Si può sfumare o lasciare marcato. Si possono fare linee sottili o spesse ma sempre precise se si ha manualità. Dura molto, il colore è intenso ma abbastanza naturale, ottimo per tutti i colori di occhi ma soprattutto quelli chiari che li risalta ancora di più con un trucco sui marroni, beige e bronzi/dorati. Ormai è il mio eyeliner marrone preferito. Non da allergie e tiene tutto il giorno. Facile da togliere con lo struccante bifasico (il mio preferito). Non è waterproof ma tiene sotto l'acqua, non cola, sbava o va via. Prodotto consigliato quando è in offerta e senza spese di spedizione.
