How many birds are on the tree? (I'm curious whether one could use this as an Advent calendar.)

Using it as an Advent calendar is a great idea! It doesn’t have twenty-five birds - if memory serves, it’s around 12-15 - but maybe you can come up with something else to make up the difference. Either way, it’s a lovely card.

Does everything fit inside the included envelope? If so, can you mail it with a regular Forever stamp or does it require extra shipping costs?

USPS will not accept this card with the 6 stamps as advertised per seller. Because of the “Do Not Fold” on the envelop, it’s considered as a parcel. They charged me $5.40 to mail it 15miles. It’s a great card but for hand delivery only. Save your stamps!

Is this tree flat on one side, or does it go all the way around? Can it be stored flat for next year? Thanks!

The tree is symmetrical so it has branches all the way around. It cannot be stored flat after it has been attached to base.

Is the image of the bird on the backside and what’s an approximation of the bird’s size?

The bird is on both sides, not sure about the size of the bird as this was sent as a gift. It is beautiful and everyone loves the look and size.
