Very good, covers the entire operation from start to end and the reprise! Fits well with the ‘boys’ series ,and a good read with some unseen pics as well.

Blackbird Aircraft off the secret list.
The third in a trilogy of books which I have read, all by Richard H. Graham, former pilot and Squadron Commander of the once top secret SR71 Spyplane. As others by this author, very readable, especially for the enthusiast.

SR71 Blackbird
This was not one of my better buys. The book has very few photos or even tales about the SR71. It is really views from many aircrew that flew the SR71. I thought the book was going to tell me the history of the SR71 and how it came into being. I saw the aircraft at Farnborough and did not know the aircraft had been in US service for about 20 years and was about to be phased out. The book does not do this even though the front cover says Stories, tales and Legends. It depends on what you expect of a book about SR71. It did not meet my expectations but then no one had reviewed it to advise me of the contant before I started.

Mi è piaciuta la ricchezza di storie, solo le fotografie sono poche, molto poche. Apprezzabile è l’inglese semplice e non troppo forbito con cui è scritto. Leggibile anche da chi ha un inglese liceale.

Would have preferred a more technical evaluation, which however is covered in another volume.

Really fascinating book. Well written with all personal stories. I spent 3 and 1/2 years (Dec 1981 to Apr 1985) living on Kaden AFB on Okinawa. I have many fond memories of watching the Habus taking off and landing. The night time missions are the best. Just to hear the bird take off was unique as no other plane made the same sound. The lavender flames and diamonds brought every hair on my arms to stand straight up. They always flew the same track in the evening sky. It really made me quite proud to think that Kelly Johnson and crew designed and built the planes and the men who flew and maintained them.
