Hooray for Fish! : Cousins, Lucy, Cousins, Lucy: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Fabulous fishy fun! - In this charming book for pre-schoolers, Little Fish invites us to explore the ocean and meet all his friends. After being introduced to happy fish, grumpy fish, hairy fish, scary fish and even curly-wurly fish (amongst others), we finally get to meet Little Fish's favourite fish of all - Mummy! Lucy Cousins, best known for creating Maisy the mouse, has really gone to town dreaming up all sorts of weird and wonderful undersea creatures. The illustrations are bold and enticing for young readers, and there are lots of lovely descriptive words in the text. The fact that some of the fish are very fanciful makes it a great book for spotting things - colours, shapes, stripes and spots, as well as hair, teeth and even a fish that looks like a pineapple! This was, without a doubt, my daughter's favourite book in her first year. She loved to turn the pages and to look for Little Fish, who appears in each drawing. The board book edition is a nice size for little hands to hold, and robust enough to withstand a certain amount of rough treatment! If you're looking for a fun tale packed with colourful characters, 'Hooray for Fish!' comes highly recommended. Review: On a repeat - We saw an episode of Play School Australia when they used this book as one of their story book for the day. I loved the colours and picture so got it as a Christmas present for my little girl (she is 23 months old). 3 weeks further, this book is a firm favourite and we read it twice before bedtime and a further third if have it her way. The book is lovely and big with bright bold colours. Lovely description and adjectives to describe the fishes in simple words and plenty of scope for yourselves to describe the fishes. My daughter identifies herself as the little fish and calls it by her own name (Yaya fish!). We count, we make funny faces and do a lot of recognising and recalling whilst reading. Overall this is a winner.

Lovely illustrations, hours of fun
Really lovely book, very well illustrated and a nice simple story about meeting friends but mum (I change it to dad when I am reading it) is the best one of all. We play 'which fish do you like the best' and 'spot me this kind of fish' as well as reading the story itself, so it provides hours of fun. When we go to the aquarium we spot the fish that are in the book! A great addition to any toddler's library.

Bursting with colour!
I love this book. As a present, we were given an A3 paperback version originally which was well loved by 3 boys. By the time baby 4 came along, he was more interested in eating the unintentionally ripping the pages, so a hard back version was ideal. Would highly recommend this book. It has a long life span and now the older ones love reading it to the younger ones.

We were given the paperback version for number 1 and absolutely loved it. We loved it so much I thought a board version would make sense for number 2. The illustrations are lovely and we all know it from cover to cover.... only disappointment with this copy is that it is in American English so uses the word 'gripy' instead of 'grumpy' and 'mom' instead of 'mum'. Not exactly the end of the world but.....

Good book. The print and paper quality is very good. This is my 3.5 year old daughter's 3rd favorite book after Brown bear and Finding Nemo

As a librarian assistant for many years, I have had the privilege of sharing so many fun books with wee ones. This is one of my « go to » books for baby gifts. Lucy Cousins writes engaging and colorful stories and « Hooray for Fish » is such fun to read!
