Marginally effective
Bolt throw is less than 1” this means I had 1/4” of bolt extending to the lock strike bracket when installed.The outside body of the lock is larger (wider) than the inside, thus requiring a larger offset from the door edge. This reduces the bolt locking length.If installing on an EMCO or Andersen storm door that is installed on a prehung steel exterior door, the lock body will have to be shimmed out at least 1/2”on the interior door face.I received a used product that was supposed to be complete. Had to order parts from manufacturer to install. They were very helpful.The lock can be defeated by using a screwdriver to gently spread the gap between door and frame, rendering the lock worthless for security. It will keep the door latched in strong winds. A very disappointing purchase.
