Great historical playmobil for older kids
I love the fact that Playmobil have brought out a historical range for older children. My 7 year old has really enjoyed the history side of it and it has fulled discussion and investigation into the Roman times. It was also tricky enough for her to tackle but not too hard that she could not construct it all by herself which is great and she was really pleased with herself for doing it when it was complete. The finished model is strudy and you can buy a motor to transform it into a real water model which is an added element of fun! As my daughter bought this with her own money, we got the cheaper non motorised version but with the possibility to add it on later it seems perfect. The details are great and the firing bow is a particular favourite, as is the secret compartment in the ship floor where the Roman soldiers can often be found "sleeping" or "hiding". She has enjoyed reconstructing scenes from history (and her own versions of history which are quite amusing!) and is keen to build her collection, especially with the Egyptian range as these complement what they have learnt at school.

Well made and enjoyable toy
My 6 year old daughter got this for her birthday, and loves it. I love it too, as I am a professor of ancient history. The pieces fit together well and it is surprisingly large and sturdy. The little ballista actually fires, which is fun. There are lots of accessories. The little bits of plastic fruit supplied with the ship for the Playmobil Romans to eat are anachronistic - the Romans had no access to tropical fruits like bananas and pineapples (the former spread through North Africa and Iberia with the rise of Islam, and only really became popular in Europe in the 19th C; the latter was first encountered by Europeans in the late 15th C) - but that doesn't really matter.

An excellent toy combining great play with learning about ancient times
This is an excellent toy combining great play with learning about ancient times. It is large and can be used in the bath, though any carpet will also serve well as the Mediterranean for re-enacting the battle of Actium. It is simple to put together with a number of accessories such as shields, food, wine vases, and it is durable enough to withstand rough play. Father Christmas delivered on his promise and everyone was very happy.

Not great
I’m sure the item is fine but I wouldn’t advise buying it as a Christmas present. Literally just delivered to my house completely unwrapped and in front of my son 🤦♀️

Very handsome, showstopping toy
Brilliant - big sturdy boat, great details. Stickers need careful placing or the effect could be ruined, but you can peel them off and replace if quick! Can't wait to try it on water with the motor.

Excellent
This is a fabulous toy, which I bought at an excellent price. My sons have had hours of play from this already and the build quality is good, as you would expect from playmobil. Overall, an excellent purchase.
