A fantastic price for reading both DC and AC
This review is for the HANMATEK Digital Clamp Meter,Auto-ranging Amp Voltage Tester with Backlight,Clamp Multimeter 2000 Counts Amp Tester with AC/DC Voltage,NCV,Resistance,Capacitance,Continuity,Frequency£25.99 at the time of review. It comes in an illustrated cardboard box with batteries (but no screwdriver to open the battery cover), a small booklet that doesn’t tell you a lot, a set of terminal leads with caps and a case to keep them in with space inside it.The beauty of this clamp meter is that it can read both DC and AC currents, which should make it more expensive but they have kept the price amazingly low. It can read volts and amps without needing to touch any live connections such as you need to do with a standard multimeter. If you can reach the connections, you also have leads to plug into the meter to do that too.Press the trigger to open the jaws, place a power cable inside and close the jaws. If you want to read current (amps) you need to pass just one of the cores through the jaws to get a reading (on a 2 or 3 core power lead). If you try to read the current with both positive and negative leads inside the jaws, the readings from each will cancel each other out giving a zero reading. This meter can also read resistance, temperatures in °C/°F and non-contact voltages (NCV). I found the NCV function worked really well giving a good audio beep as you I neared a cable carrying power (a light bulb in this case) which can help you decide if a cable is carrying power or notThis is a really handy device for testing power and currents on cables where you can’t get access to the connections. You should never fully rely on a negative reading, but it does make decisions a little easier. This is a superb price and the whole meter is smaller than I had thought which makes it easy to carry and use. 5 stars from me and I am more than happy to recommend it. This clamp meter could easily replace an ordinary multimeter as it can do that job easily, it covers both AC and DC and offers the NCV advantages as well so buy this if you want a multimeter but don’t have one.

Good for smallish DC currents & has many traditional multimeter functions too.
I have used expensive AMP-Clamps but their price from the likes of Fluke, MAC and Snapon, all have been either unable to read the required 0.001AMP range or far to expensive for the job intended. A Pico-Scope is the go to for accuracy but the hassle of setting the thing up for something as simple as a parasitic drain, doesn't warrant the extra time. Its absolutely awesome, after some testing. Again mainly used for parasitic drains, the basis of my testing was low current measurement. As with many clamps, zero the meter holding the clamp as close as possible and in the same direction of flow. The earths magnetic field can make fluctuations in readings, this meter coped very well. All tests were checked with my calibrated workshop meter. All tests were using DC. First test was 12v flowing through a 100 ohm resistor, this would be read as 120ma, not mega low but a test neither the less. Second test was a measurement of a 50ma Fan, the measurement I received from the clamp was 51ma, Still happy 3rd test was on an actual vehicle with a complaint of a battery drain. Usual drain would be under 15ma on this particular vehicle, I see alot of these cars too and parasitic drain are not uncommon, I must admit, this was the main factor for my buying this meter. Tested to be sure with a meter in series, all reading were correct, I now trust this meter. After some more tests, i found the meter to be very accurate at DC measurement, with the odd reading out by 1 or 2 ma at times. very much value for money, an improvement to the device would be to improve the back light, its not great.

Accurate and well made meter
The meter body feels strong and the leads also appear to be of above average quality for a meter in this price range. It comes with AA batteries and a case. The display is fast and easy to read, with hold and back light to help if required. The continuity testing buzzer is loud and very responsive. Likewise the NCV function is also sensitive enough, giving a very clear indication of the presence of voltage without breaking a circuit.Initially I didn't think it measured DC volts as the markings on the switch are not that clear but it automatically selects between AC or DC when you touch the probes to the circuit. So it does everything most "normal" multi meters do apart from DC current. As far as accuracy goes it seems to compare with my more expensive branded meter in the areas I could test it.So if you don't need DC current then this would do just fine for a general purpose meter with the added bonus of the AC clamp measurement feature.

Reasonable for back up.
Digital clamp meter, feels quite sturdy and constructed from a decent gauge robust plastic. Comes in a handy protective case, works well as a test meter and seems fairly robust. However, test leads supplied are poor quality and clamping function is not the most effective shape for clamping wires. Back light function doesn’t stay on for long enough. I wouldn’t rely on it for professional use but it would be okay as a back up.

Great meter for the price
I've wanted one of these for a while. This was a great price. I have only used it once or twice but it works well and is easy to use. I had never heard of this brand until I saw it on Amazon. They make a lot of electronicsit seems to be a good company.

Does what's on the tin... and something more
Compact, rugged enough, appreciated very much the carrying bag: enough room to put inside a cable splitter to measure appliances!Good as a do-it-all instrument for a semi-pro electrician. And it also has a working NCV sensor!
