National Geographic Walking Amsterdam: The Best of the City (National Geographic Walking the Best of the City) Paperback – 17 April 2014

This is only our latest purchase from this series of cities guides. Like all the other "sister" guides, this Amsterdam one is excellent. Lots of suggestions and ideas depending on the length of your stay.If you enjoy discovering a foreign city on foot, there are lots of planned walking tours suggested, always well thought-out and interesting. Lots of nice photos in colours of the main attractions, with interesting and well-written text about historical notions and context, that is neither too superficial nor overwhelming (the volume is quite slim, after all, so it's not a history book).Lots of shops/restaurants/hotels suggested; local emergency numbers, addresses and email addresses providedI; local helpful info included. Ticket prices of the many attractions listed are provided, as well as opening times, addresses, contact details etc. The guide also comes with a useful mini map of the city centre and maps for public transport.Despite being full of info, the physical guide is light and fits into almost all bags. I love relying on these guides for my explorations and I have almost the full collection of European cities. Great value for money too.
