Delighted! But....
Does exactly what it says on the box!I have six windows in my flat which open outwards, so I bought three kits, which easily did all of the windows. Once in place you can't really see the mesh, and they do the job excellently. I am on the 4th floor, and in previous years I have been plauged by flies. Now I am fly-free! Wonderfull! There are two minor drawbacks however, which might be worth considering before you buy:The velcro strips are black, (bad design choice!) And don't look very attractive attached to my white PVC window frames. The velcro strips peel away from the frames in places, especially if you stretch the mesh too tightly across the window. (So be 'generous' when cutting the mesh to size) This was easily remidied though, by applying a little superglue, and they are now firmly held in situ. Do be aware that you will have to peel away the net from the velcro in a small area at the bottom to reach-out every time you open or close the windows if they open outwards. I am lucky being high-up, as I can leave my windows open all Summer. To those who are disappointed I can only say... for the money they are brilliant! AND... considerably cheaper than the £160 I was quoted for made to measure screens! Enjoy!

Disappointing!
Original review:Bought for my husbands office window, as with three computers running it gets very hot! This was a great price, and so easy to attach, it is strong and keeps all the flying bugs out! Don't be put off by it being black, as once it is hung you really cannot notice it at all! Very happy with this and will be buying another for the kitchen window! One week later:Velcro has come away from window frame and the net. I have tried fixing it back a few times, and it just drops straight off, hence the damn flies are back! Not impressed, although this was a cheap product, I guess you get what you pay for.....but I did expect more! Now back to the drawing board!

Works well.
My windows are also opening outward (as most UK windows). My dad, who lives in Germany, was surprised, that our windows are not opening inward!!! I simply fixed the tape to the wall around the window and keep detaching a part for opening the window. The tape sticks very well (at least for a while)!!! You can also easily see through and it keeps out insects. HOWEVER: I will have to find a solution in the long term as to what Velcro tape I am using. Either double the Velcro up or get some other Velcro which I can permanently fix to the wall somehow as after 6 weeks it starts to detach at a couple of places.

Does what it says, but will tear very easily.
It serves its purpose. The velcro it comes with is useless and peels away very quickly so I'd suggest buying some separately. The net itself is incredibly thin and weak. While it will keep the bugs out, it can't stand up to being pulled back and replaced and will tear very quickly. Obviously this will happen once you've had to open and close the window a couple of times. Fortunately it is cheap enough to replace but it is worth keeping in mind.I'm planning to make a frame to hold the net, and then velcro the whole thing to my window. That way the stress will be on the frame and not the net, and hopefully make it last. Sounds like a lot of effort but I'm allergic to wasps and the war effort runs off innovation.

Buzz off
I've use this mesh before just a different brand but they all do the same thing, bugs buzz off. The trick to getting the Velcro to stay is to clean your UPVC window frame and I don't mean with soapy water I mean a solvent based cleaner to insure it's free from grease and dirt.I leave it on because my windows open inwards but I can still take it down and clean the windows and then pop it back up again. The last time I changed it was 3 or 4 years ago. The mesh is a little delicate now and the velcro is coming away so I purchased a now one.

DOES NOT WORK FOR MIDGES!
Why even bother putting 'midges' on the description?I bought 4 of these nets for our Vivaro camper conversion, we were heading up to Scotland to a festival on the west coast. The first night we camped by Loch Fyne, we knew it would be super midgey (as it was June) but we were confident in our midge nets. We soon found that the midges were landing on the net then simply crawling through the holes so we soon got eaten alive. The rest of the holiday we had to keep all openings shut which in hot early summer wasnt too fun.The nets are made well, they come with some thin velcro that is really handy and provides plenty of coverage but the net just isnt fine enough for midges, keeps the mosquitos out and other crawlies but thats it. So now Ive wasted £20 and still have to fine a different alternative.

Delighted to say this screen DOES work for open-outwards windows!
I've purchased this kit and am absolutely delighted with it. I actually have open-outwards windows (contrary to the first reviewer) and I can vouch that the screen does indeed suit open-outwards windows too. It's simple to do this: the screen uses Velcro strips and so any edge of the screen can easily be unattached temporarily to access your window latch behind the screen. Open or close your window, then smooth the screen back into place. Very easy to do this.Once in place, the mesh is so fine that it is practically invisible. The narrow strips of Velcro fix firmly to both wood and UPVC window frames and there is enough Velcro supplied to completely encircle the window. The mesh is easy to cut to shape (I recommend leaving a little excess for easier fitting). The only difficulty I can envisage with open-outwards windows are the older-style wooden casement designs that use a metal horizontal bar to prop open the window. This bar will jut inwards through the mesh screen, and so you will need to allow slack in the mesh so that you can tuck it around this bar. More modern windows don't tend to use these prop bars and don't present this problem.

inutile e brutta
