Good for any hair type, but doesn’t smell the best. Would love a sandalwood scented version.
I have very fine hair, and my mustache isn’t the thickest. I assumed I would need a light hold wax and tried a couple, but the problems I had with the others I tried were that the mustache would lose its form after an hour or two. I think it may be partially due to how hot it gets here in Phoenix AZ. With this Fireman’s, the mustache ends for my slight handlebar/van dyke are held in place very well. I was worried it would look greasy, but it does not. I leave it in the car on the dash board so it’s warm when I’m leaving for work. I apply it, and the air conditioning in the car sets it very well. I might have to adjust the mustache about once every two hours or so, but I don’t often need to reapply it throughout the day. Maybe once if I’m particularly active. I will say it doesn’t smell very good. I can’t put my finger on what the scent is. It’s not a bad smell, but it’s not the best smell to be right under your nose all day. I use a very strong sandalwood beard balm to help balance it out and I have good luck with it. I would love a scented version. It’s definitely harder than the waxes I’ve tried, but it’s still plenty malleable if it’s not warmed up. I use a guitar pick to scrape out a small amount. I will say that if you apply it cold, a comb will come in handy. Applied cold, it seems to leave a few ‘crumbs’ of wax in the mustache that comb right out. Warm it up a little first. Doesn’t need to be a lot. Keep it in your pocket, or hit it with a hair dryer, or even leave it in the car like I do. You can definitely feel that there’s petroleum in it. It wipes off the fingers quite well, but you’ll be left with the most subtle tackiness on your fingertips for about 20 minutes. Very subtle. Almost feels like you just moisturized those fingers with something real thick. 9/10. Would love a scented version.

Great wax
I was using death grip and it had a awesome hold but got tacky while I was at work. I saw a YouTube video on this and decided to give it a try. This is now my go to moustache wax. It goes on easy holds my handlebar curls and isn't tacky. Smells pretty good for a few hours then scent is gone. Doesn't seem to be oily like others been using for about a week now daily.

I don't see how this can get any better without adding junk I don't want on my face.
I've read the 1-2 star reviews, and I'm forced to question most of them. As far as I can tell, this wax is completely unscented. I can detect natural scents from the raw (natural) ingredients, but no aromatic oils or perfumes. I don't understand the complaints about its barely detectable scent, nor can I imagine why you'd want something scented directly under your nose. Save the stink-pretty treatment for your beard, or maybe figure out what it is about you that smells so bad you have to mask it from your own nose. This is moustache wax, not beard wax. It's supposed to be pretty much solid at room temperature, if it wasn't then it wouldn't hold. And boy, let me tell you, this wax will definitely hold. I live in San Antonio, TX. I go outside in the 109 degree, 100% humidity fury of summer. You wouldn't know it from the state of my stache, the most I have to do on days like that is occasionally run my thumb along the bottom of my lip line because I don't like forming it so solidly that it *looks* like it's waxed hard (and holds, accordingly). After a little over a year of using this brand, I'm currently working on my fourth tin. I set my handlebars after my morning shower and almost never need to add more wax unless I shower again or need to clean my stache after a meal. Honestly, I can quite often restyle it after waking up in the morning without adding more wax. That depends a little on how much I tossed and turned while sleeping, but this stuff really does stand up to a ton of abuse without being messy. A hot shower is a bit too much to restyle without adding more wax, though a fair bit survives even that unless I soap it out. I've only had trouble scraping out wax when camping and the temperature was around 40 degrees, but it was fine after spending an hour in my pocket. I've had issues much more often in trying to work it with insufficiently dried fingers, which results in a clumpy mess that can't be applied well at all. I've figured out a process that works well for me, which I'm geeky enough to share. Read on if you like, or stop here because I'm done with my specific comments about Firehouse wax. :) After my morning shower, I scrape enough to roll into a ball the size of a small pea. I really do form that ball every time to make sure it's solid and the right size, flatten it between my thumb and finger, then start to work it. Once my finger is sliding easily (telling me the wax is ready) I begin stroking my finger down my stache with gentle pressure, I'm not trying to wipe it all off in one swipe, and I'm not using my thumb. I just work one side of my stache at a time. When my finger is "empty," I rub it against my thumb again to build up a new load and repeat. After getting most of the wax applied, I comb it through completely. That gets rid of the stuck-together, super shiny look, and distributes it more evenly through the deeper hairs. Vertical strokes only, because that's how the hairs should lay until you get to your lip. If I soaped my stache I'll usually need to get a second pea-sized ball and repeat this process. I don't know how to describe it better than that, judging exactly how much you need is a matter of experience. Once I satisfied that it's thoroughly combed in and feels right (that's another experience thing), I take a final vertical stroke of the comb through the entire side I'm working on, stopping just above the top edge of my lip. The front of the comb travels down the center-line under my nose. I make sure that the front and back of the comb are both at my lip, then pull the comb along its length to create my basic lipline and handles. Using the little bit of wax left on my finger and thumb, I'll work the lip line until I like the way it looks. I generally do that by stroking down with my finger as my thumb slides along the bottom to tuck in the ends evenly. Once that's done, I'll get a tiny bit more wax (if necessary) and shape my handlebar. You'll get a bit of twist while rolling your lip line, but don't add any more once you clear the width of your growth line. Rub the wax on straight, in the direction and general angle you want the hairs to lay in the first place. Once you've got them pointed straight through to where you want, bend as necessary to make any contours you like. Twisting should be minimized as much as possible, because you don't want to fight any more un-twisting with wax than you absolutely have to. It will hold together, but probably not in the exact position that you want it to. Save yourself the aggravation and work with your hairs instead of against them.

WAY Tacky
Comments: I am brand new to moustache wax, so I cannot compare this to others. I have a dark brown Selleck style stache (if I may be so bold) with some gray. The grays are less cooperative than I'd like them to be. This wax is a dark rust color and is CRAZY tacky. It is not visible on my dark brown stache. It has to be heated a couple minutes just to be pliable on the finger. Even then, it thickens again quickly afterward. This can lead to "clumpiness" if not applied carefully. That's the only reason for dropping a star. The product is nice and smooth as packaged. It leaves my stache feeling a bit stiff, but that may just be my learning curve. I am dialing in the right quantity to apply and trying to learn to properly spread the product throughout. I've read descriptions on how to do this, but have not seen any good videos. It does tame those wild hairs! If you over apply it, I think your best bet is to either jump in front of a warm shower head for several minutes, or just run with it as is. It is not as water soluble as I thought it would be, but it does wear off over the course of day. Just apply less next time. The scent is woodsy, smoky, and yes masculine, but subtly so. The container is a good quality aluminum container that seals adequately to protect the contents. If you're in similar circumstances as me with your stache, this is a good product to try. I will likely at some point try a less tacky wax just for comparison. But that's no reflection on the quality of this product, just me looking for the right consistency. If I do, I'll look to Firehouse again to see what else they offer.

Great hold …. Easy to style.

Held my moustache at my own wedding. Really thankful to this. The trick is knowing how to apply it properly. Would recommend. Not found a wax as good as this on the market. Brace yourself for an uncomfortable feeling on the upper lip till this is on.

Super wax. Great hold with an easy application. Wax stays firm but not too sticky. I've used a few different brands of stache wax and this is as good as I've used. Well done Fire Fighter!
