Daylight in a can!
I have a number of Sofirn torches but the Q8 Plus is the biggest and brightest I currently own. The interface uses Anduril 2 which is pretty intuitive to use once you have get used to it and can also be switched to "Advanced Mode" giving many more options if you require. The casing is well made from aircraft grade aluminium with a grippy texture - useful as the torch is a little on the heavy side but that is to be expected all things considered. It is also IPX8 rated meaning it can withstand the worst of British weather without issue. It has a single button for operation and a USB-C port for charging the batteries (which are removable) that also doubles up as a power-bank for charging your mobile (or whatever) - a nice feature! Note: The power-bank feature is UCB-C to USB-C charging only. The light is a cool white light with plenty of splash and a reasonable soft hotspot in the centre giving the light a decent throw. The light levels go from moonlight (very nice for map reading or when your eyes have adjusted to the dark and not ruining your night vision) to Turbo - or as my wife calls it - the "OMG mode"! The turbo mode has to be seen to be believed and lights up your vicinity like daylight. The downside to this kind of light is that it will drain the batteries much quicker but also cause the torch to heat up rather rapidly. The torch will step down the light level after a short period of time (around 30 to 45 seconds depending on ambient temperature) to protect itself and your hand from overheating but it will still give out a very useable beam. I tend to use the light on a more medium setting for the most part and just turbo it for clarity when required. This is not a torch that will fit into an average pocket and you will certainly feel the weight if it's in a backpack or bag but if instant daylight is what you're after then this light will deliver. Yes there are brighter torches available (and probably bigger and heavier and certainly much more expensive) but for a "useable" powerful torch I think the Q8 plus fits the bill very nicely.

The Real Deal
This is the genuine article, a very high quality flashlight finished to perfection in every detail i can find. The included Li-Ion cells are also good quality and plenty capable of the power demands to run the light at full power. It is amazingly powerful and clearly outputs the rated 16000 lumens in turbo mode. The control interface is intuitive and once learned the functions you need can be remembered faily easily, you can program many things to your preference and the illuminated button is a nice touch since i bought this to use on my boat and it makes it easy to know exactly where the flashlight is when its required. You can use button shortcut presses to direct access the required power mode between low/high/turbo or seamlessly ramp up or down by holding down the button. (Needs to have advanced UI enabled to access turbo mode its shipped in easy mode which sets the upper limit to high which is still very bright)I cant overstate how powerfull this is, on just the high mode it can easily illuminate most of the large marina and the neighboring one, it has nice colour temperature leds and a well distributed light output perfect for floodlighting an area such as a bridge or the river bank and the beam throw lights up much further than you would believe a hand torch without zoom would be capable of.There is also a standard size tripod mount which would accept a pistol grip handle or a lanyard bolt, i even managed to find a mounting bracket to afix it to the roof bars of the boat and use it as an adjustable searchlight. It will charge a USB-C smartphone at the fast rate which could also be a lifesaving feature in an emergency. Its a heavy device and not easy to put in trouser pockets but does fit quite happily in a large coat pocket and also will stick to a magnet so could be rescued if dropped in water etc.The case gets quite warm dissapating the heat produced in the turbo power mode.I cant comment on the longevity yet since i havent had it long but i suspect if respected and not pushed to the limit in turbo mode constantly it will hold up just fine, realistically i think most people would only need the turbo mode in the most demanding situations, it stays cool in the normal modes.Overall i would recommend it to anyone looking for a serious flashlight capable of some insane light output in a relatively small package.

Mini Pocket-sun!
Well built, this torch packs quite a punch! 16k Lumens confirmed. The torch is comfortable to hold, but at nearly half a kilo all-in it's quite heavy! The interface uses the Anduril 2 interface which IMO is intuitive and should be considered the standard!Grip is more than adequate. If I had any issues it would be :-Lack of lanyardAnd I question IPX8 with the method used to seal the charging port - rubbed flaps tend to stretch with age and so this will potentially be a problem in future.I would prefer a system where you can seal the USB more permanently, or better still use a magnetic contact system like some others use, which is guaranteed not to let anything in!Oh and no instructions for what the LED indicators mean! But I am being picky, as its primary job it works very well!

Awesome Torch
This is an extremely bright & well made torch. I love the firmware too (once I got used to it.) During online testing it was found that the quoted lumens figure is correct for this torch which is great, as this is falsely quoted on many a flashlight. This light is easily as bright as one of my 16000lm Fenix.. which cost well over twice the price of this little beauty. If you're unsure, just get one, you won't be disappointed.
