At last, a long slot toaster that actually works! In the past six months I have returned two such toasters by other brands, both of which had inexcusable design faults: one burned the edges of the bread and the other toasted one face much more than the other. When I received the Morphy Richards toaster and looked at the user manual, I was initially worried after reading the following two hints: (1) that when toating two slices, they should both be placed in the same slot; and (2) that when toasting one slice, the side facing the inner wall will be darker in colour than the other. The whole point of a long slot toaster is to accommodate slices from large loaves, so (1) is clearly not practical. And it is up to the designers to compensate for (2) by correctly balancing the power to the heating elements. Fortunately, neither of these has proved to be a problem in practice. The toaster does seem to run the inner heating elements cooler than the outer ones and toasting of the two sides is reasonably even. One minor complaint is that the "high raise" function - i.e. when the lever is pulled up higher than its normal position, does not raise the bread very far, making it difficult to retrieve small or stuck pieces. (Perhaps it is not intended to do that, but it should be!)

Nice looking toaster but toasting bread is a bit erratic! As other reviews have pointed out, it occasionally toasts one side more than the other and I flirted with the idea of returning it. However, I'm pleased I didnt because the more I've used it the more evenly the bread has toasted. Plus, it looks very 'opulant' in my splendid kitchen.......for the occasional use it gets, I can put up erratic toasting! My advice would be, keep an eye on it whist using.

For the price paid, I expected a reasonable quality toaster, instead, I got one that felt light and flimsy, but I put that down to modern materials being lighter in weight, but it’s operation would be good. I was wrong. The lever to pop the bread down got stuck before ‘clicking’ into the bottom, then toasting was very uneven, and even on the lowest setting, burnt the edges before the middle was toasted. When the toast was supposedly done, the ‘pop up’ barely popped up at all. This is not the quality I’d expect for £58. Item has been returned.

Very nice looking toaster, browns well and evenly, just one problem toast, crumpets always get stuck so doesn’t pop up all the way have to use tongs to remove toast, crumpets from sides.

Nice toaster

Nice glossy, white, appearance and looked good, but it did not toast the bread, evenly, on both sides of the bread. Also, the lowest setting, browned the bread, more than I expected. I returned the toaster.

At long last a toaster that actually toasts the whole slice.
