Q: How strong is the magnet? Is it reliable or will it fall to the floor?

Strong relative to gravity only. If you have kids who close a door a bit to hard near one or a cat walks by and the draft hit it.. they will fall. I added double sided tape to help keep them from tumbling down the stairs and scaring the crap out of my cat.

Q: What type of charging cable does this use?

It uses a micro USB that’s included, I only need to charge once every couple weeks with daily use

Seems like legit 3M. Holding well on a textured wall.
