Just what I was looking for excellent sound would recommend but only draw back a bit fiddly to equip but perseverance is certainly worth it once the snare drum tuned a beautiful crisp and fairly dry drum sound with hardly any annoying interference buzz from other frequency's lovely .

great quality snare, gives a great woody sound
the quality of the product is excellent and the sound it produces is great, better for those who fancy a more traditional woody sound like Gavin Harrison or John Dolmayan really cuts down on sympathetic buzz from other instruments too. would strongly recommend. it also comes with two extra snare strands, just a bonus.

Five Stars
Great product gives the drum a nice dry sound and reduces sympathetic snare resonance from the toms

This sounds great, the tone of the drum comes through but still gives you a satisfying buzz. I love this.

Great improvement to Ludwig Acrolite.
I've just put a set of the Equalizer snare wires on a vintage Ludwig Acrolite I've just picked up and I'm stunned by the improvement they've made to the sound of the whole drum kit by reducing the amount of unwanted snare buzz when playing the 10" & 12" toms. There's still plenty of snare reaction from the snare drum itself but a HUGE reduction in the unwanted buzzing and so the clarity and definition from the rest of the kit is hugely improved. I wouldn't have believed the difference these have made if I hadn't heard it myself. Really pleased.

Pretty good but check your snare bed
They're OK but you need a wide snare bed to make them work really well. My old premier steel snare didn't really take to them no matter the tuning. No snare bed... As another review has pointed out, they're a little longer than usual I think. Perhaps that's the drum we've tried them on?

These snares sound good on my maple snare
These snares seem to allow a little more of the shell sound to come through. They do not differ drastically in sound from the traditional snare wire configuration. They do appear to be a quality product. I may purchase again for another snare that I have.

The Taming Of The Snare
I bought this wire in conjunction with a Remo Coated Powerstroke 77 batter head and Hazy Ambassador snare side head in an attempt to tame a Pearl Special Edition 14" x 5.5" birch snare, a necessity because the snare is waaay more drum than my entry-level kit which resides in an unfinished basement. And, after a bit of effort, the results are stellar. These are extremely well-built (as are all Puresound products) and even come with step-by-step instructions (if you need them). They're also quite versatile. Depending on the tuning of the heads and tension on the wires, the resultant sound ranges between sharp and dry to soft and wet, with upwards of 80% less sympathetic snare buzz when thumping the toms . Highly recommended. Ahhh, for those still suffering snare buzz, try slightly de-tuning the four lugs on either side of the wire openings (2 x 2) in the bottom hoop. I found this very beneficial for reducing the sympathetic buzz.

Made a difference compared to stock snare wires.
Put these on my cheap practice snare with a silent stroke drum head. The old snare wires had a piercing quality that was fairly irritating, and didn’t have a consistent tone. These wires give it just slight more body, a smoother overall sound, and less bleed to the rest of the kit.For a cheap poplar snare that came in a starter kit, it made a noticeable difference. Worth the price to just try it out.
