Just received the mug. How is it possible for this mug not to leak after being in the dishwasher upside down? The sleeve will be full of water.

Remove the sleeve. It slides of easier if it is wet. Twist it off. Be careful; when I did it and it came off my hand slipped and the mug hit the side of the sink and got a small chip.

Do you detach the silicon sleeve when put in dishwasher i have been keeping them attached but find that gunk accumulates in between mug and sleeve?

We have never removed the sleeve and have been using these for years. We’ve never noticed anything accumulating. We put in dishwasher. Would just rinse with water.
