Are well made but a bit fast going up and a bit stiff going down just hope they were as time goes by.not much of problem putting on

Fitted in a matter of minutes but now have the opposite problem, tailgate opens way to quickly and would give you a nasty wallop if you weren't ready to get out of the way. Maybe they will soften with time. Might try one new one with one of the weak ones and see how it goes.

I fitted a pair of these Gas struts to the tailgate of my Freelander 2. The problem is that there was no damping so the strong springs operated without anything to slow down the opening of the tailgate, the resulting force caused the tailgate to swing open with surprising speed and could easily have caught me on the way up. The free, no quibble return process was quick and easy, the best part of the deal. Now replaced with parts from another manufacturer.

OK. So you need new struts.... they fit in seconds and they work but...there's no damping effect on these and you're likely to get hurt if too close when opening tailgate. Tailgate flies up... Just too much force in them. I've had to go with one old strut and one new just to slow it down and have some control.

Good quality and inexpensive put some grease on each ball joint end to make them smoother. A helper to hold the boot and a small screwdriver is all thats needed.
