The origin story continues on Gotham and the stakes are higher than ever, as Super Villains more ambitious and depraved are introduced, and a shift of alliances shakes up the fight for power in Gotham City. In season two, Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the ethically questionable veteran Detective Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in this dangerously corrupt city. While confronting Gotham's most notorious criminals, however, Gordon's moral compass begins to waver, but he is taken under the wing of Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis), a law-and-order zealot who is unafraid of making enemies. At the same time, Gordon continues his quest to gain the trust of the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), who is on a clear path towards the man he is destined to become, after discovering his father's deepest secrets, with the help of his trusted butler and mentor, Alfred Pennyworth (Sean Pertwee), and newfound ally at Wayne Enterprises, Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk). In the epic turf war that occurred at the conclusion of season one, Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) battled his way into power over Gotham's underworld. Heading into season two, Gotham will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city's most malevolent villains: Edward Nygma/The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), whose transformation from Gotham PD's forensic expert to psychologically unhinged villain continues; Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), whose hard-knock existence propels her into a life of crime; and the increasingly unstable Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), who is out for Gordon and his girlfriend, Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). Also hoping to leave his mark on the city is Theo Galavan (James Frain), the billionaire industrialist, who appears to be the savior for whom Gotham has been waiting. Theo, along with his sister and lead enforcer, Tabitha Galavan aka Tigress (Jessica Lucas), keep their centuries-old vendetta hidden, as they manipulate their way to power.

Loving this series
I'm not really into DC stuff, usually I prefer most of the marvel creations, I'm also not really into batman. However, I've throughly enjoyed this series. I've enjoyed watching the beginnings of Gotham & the characters, how they become & why they do what they enviably do.It's well made, with good actors & an interesting story line.

NO HOLDING BACK AS CHAOS REIGNS
Ever more dark, ever more villains - some of them decidedly OTT. Many are destined to pose real problems for Batman. As yet Bruce Wayne is but fifteen, being trained by butler Alfred for future challenges. In the meantime law enforcement is in the hands of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and colleagues, they soon to be headed by tough Captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis, from "The Shield", impressive). For full enjoyment one has to enter the spirit of the thing. These are comic book characters after all. (This does not stop moral issues being sensitively explored, Gordon haunted by the times he has killed for the common good.)I was a bit sniffy about Season 1, but this time round found more to appreciate. As ever, much depends on the quality of scripts, these with more to offer than perhaps expected. Writers clearly relish the asides they throw in: "Kill him. Don't make it quick."; "You son of a bitch." "True, but that's not the point."; the comment to a blind man - "Long time no see."Then, of course, the villains! Of the new lot, young Jerome is arguably the most manic of all. The background of others is tellingly explored. The future Riddler, never stable in the first place, has been unhinged by tragedy. Penquin (Robin Lord Taylor thoroughly enjoying himself) earns more sympathy than usual. Admittedly he despatches many, but others often caused this to be so - those who killed his parents surely deserving what they received. Saddest reason for a brain in freefall concerns Mr. Freeze, now uncontrollable because of how the love of his life died.In short, portrayals are with far greater depth than perhaps hitherto realized. Then there is Gotham, it destined never to see a blue sky. A fascinating bonus traces the history of Film Noir and how its techniques have been used to portray the city - so full of shadows and ever-present menace.22 episodes. Extra features well worth a look (although there are absurdly many on the Comic-Con panel). Alfred's history and motives are interestingly explored. This is not for those fainthearted. Scenes in a prison and asylum are particularly grim - not to mention that secret laboratory trying to bring dead back to life, monsters at times the inadvertent result. Thus - all around mayhem, body count growing. Can Gotham positively get worse? Of course it can. Hoping just that, fans eagerly await Season 3.

Must Buy!!!
So much content for such a small price, it has over 900 minutes to watch and special features around 27 minutes. Would recommend to anyone who enjoyed season one because its much better than season one too.
