TONGATE for Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Case, [Built-in Slide Camera Cover & Screen Protector] [2 Front Frame] Military Grade Shockproof S23 Ultra Phone Case with Kickstand & Belt-Clip 6.8", Black

I have used this case type with the sliding lens cover on my last couple of high end phones. I am not a professional photographer needing lightning fast access to the camera for a wildlife or sports shot but don't find needing to slide the cover a problem at all. It has become a reflex reaction as I pull the phone out of my pocket if I intend to use the camera and it is ready to go. I have large hands as many people with a phone this size will and can open the cover with one hand. The original Tongate I purchase for my S23 Ultra did not include the lens cover. I prefer using 9H glass and thought I woudl just leave it off. I had to rethink that when I realized that, on this new model, the lens cover is part of the rugged design. The case is slightly larger and the cover locks into it from the front improving its drop resistance even further. Fortunately, and to my surprise, there is a second front frame included that does not have the screen protector installed in it. It seem like a very high tolerance fit so to be sure my 9H glass (the one often recommended for the unit) would fit, I took an Olfa razor knife and back scrapped the inside of the clip in part to provide a slightly larger space for the glass. Once I had the glass mounted and the unit assembled I'm not sure that was really necessary. Overall, it is an improvement over the earlier model which I saw no problem with at all. As a bonus, my 9H screen protector also came with a 9H assembly to protect the camera lenses. I was unable to use that one the earlier version of the case. There wasn't quite enough depth to allow the door to move freely. On this case the extra fraction of a millimeter needed was there so I tried the fit. In this case a very tiny easing for the hole in the case that the lenses peek through was necessary but, again, a little back scraping with the razor knife eased it out the small fraction of a millimeter that was necessary to have the camera lens protector fit into the opening. I now have the sliding door as well as the 9H glass protectors for the lenses. Overkill but I do like taking care of the things I purchase. They typically still look new when I need to replace them after a few years as technology evolves. As with the earlier version, the phone will charge in the 3rdparty 3-way charging stand Samsung list under accessories on their web site. You do need to make sure you have it centered and I find it works better with the phone vertical than sideways but it works well. Finally, the cover an the belt clip are an interesting addition. I thought I would toss that part aside too but the quality is good and it does hold the phone securely so I will likely use it if I'm taking the phone up on a ladder or into other precarious positions. There is a nice positive lock onto the case that isn;t simply friction. I have used cases costing 5 or 6 yimrs as much from the major brands on phones and iPads and things over the years and am really glad I found this type a few years ago. The protection seems to be at least as good and, yes, I've accidentally drop tested it from the roof of my car while moving and off a few ladders and the phone has survived without a mark even though the shock was hard enough to crack or dislodge the replaceable 9H screen protector a couple of times. If you are looking for something that will really protect the phone and especially the cameral lenses and don't mind adding just a bit of bulk as compared to a tight fitting neoprene case or something like that, I woudl highly recommend this case for either the Note 20 Ultra or S23 Ultra phones.

Update: I just dropped my phone from about 5 feet onto a hard, uneven tile floor. The edge of the case around the camera lense cover finally broke off so the camera lense cover won't stay closed. My phone is still in perfect condition. I'm pretty sure I would have lost the whole phone if I didn't have this case on it and I definitely would have damaged my lenses. I added a picture of the case as it is now, after 6 months of use and abuse. It's been dropped on concrete warehouse floors, flung across parking lots, and dropped on basically every surface I can think of. My phone doesn't have a scratch on it. Even with the front piece broken, I can still put it back on my phone securely and I feel like it will be protected until the replacement gets here, except for the lense cover part. I immediately ordered this exact case again, but this time I got 2 of them to have a backup. This is exactly what a case is supposed to do... Take the impact and save the phone. I wish I could give it more stars and that I could have my replacement immediately!Original review:I don't use the screen cover, so I can't comment on that, but the rest of the case is very nice. Its comfortable to hold, has held up to multiple drops onto hard surfaces, and looks very nice. There is a tiny crack in the plastic at one corner, which probably happened one of the many times I've dropped my phone off of a shopping cart seat into a concrete floor, but the phone was perfectly protected.I have the dark purple and while there are some spots that the finish has rubbed off, the material is black underneath and you really have to look to see the spots.I am really hard on phones. My only real complaint is that the camera cover can rattle sometimes. I definitely need a camera cover and I don't want a film that will cause issues with the photo quality, so this is great. My case for my s21u had a camera cover that didn't rattle, but it also popped off every time I dropped my phone, so I will take a little rattling. This cover is definitely sturdier.I also never use the kickstand, so I can't comment on that.The sides are grippy and secure for holding but the phone still slides in and out of my jeans back pocket easily. It's not perfectly stable on a flat surface, but it doesn't rock enough to be annoying while playing a game. The phone without a case is terrible to use on a flat surface and this case very stable, if not perfectly stable.Overall, it's a great case and a great value and I don't think I could get something perfect even if I paid three times as much, so this one is a winner.I lost my s21u to a drop on a rough surface and the screen shattered, so I wanted a case with more of a raised edge around the screen and I didn't want to fiddle with a screen protector (I can't stand the thought of bubbles or being able to feel the edge of the protector). I was worried that the raised edges would cause problems for playing full screen games and so far, so good. I play Stardew Valley and need to be able to use the edges of the screen and I have had no problems playing with this case. The edges around the screen are at an angle and feel smooth, so it's not an unpleasant texture. The cutout for the S Pen could be less sharp, but it doesn't bother me much. At least it's very easy to tell which end is up?It's a big phone and the case adds some bulk, so make sure your other accessories fit it.

For the price of this case you can't beat the peace of mind. I dont have many complaints so I'll list the pros and cons.Pros:- case does a fantastic job protecting the phone, it breaks on the sides of the plastic to absorb the shock. Ive dropped my phone plenty and it's always kept it safe.- the screen protector provided seems to scratch easy but it does a good job on keeping the actual phone screen safe. It's also very responsive over glass protective covers I've tried.- easy to hold and the cover over the camera keeps the lenses clean.Cons:- the kick stand on these are pretty easy to break. I've purchased these cases a few times and it seems that's the main thing that I continue to break off. Never fails.-the color of the case rubs off fairly easily but not a huge deal breaker for me.Overall I'm happy with these cases. Ill continue to get them. I just hope they fix the kick stand issue. Otherwise I enjoy having the peace of mind that my phones protected from damage.This is not a promoted message, this is my own opinion of this product from multiple purchases.

The case is good, but the customer service is excellent. I had an issue with one of the 2 cases that I bought. They were very quick to rectify the situation without any out of pocket cost to me. Excellent company. I recommend doing business with them. They will take very good care of you.
