Very helpful in your practice routine.
Great book to get some chord tone practice on using all of your fingers in different styles that there probably not used to. Standard bass cleff notation as well as treble cleff notation is included in the back of the book as well as tablature for a quick reference or if you don't read bass cleff stave music. I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking to improve their skills.

Very musical excercises
This book is absolutely amazing. The book starts off simple and works on developing the fundamental technique necessary for playing chords on the bass. What I really love about this book is that the excercises build to very musical excercises or etudes which from the beginning of the book allows the reader to hear and feel what I playing with chords is like. I’ve also found myself adapting a lot of these excercises into my own and building a really great practice routine from a not that much information. I can not recommend this book enough if you want to improve your chordal playing on the bass.

Great book!
This is a great book for learning chords and harmony on bass! It should be noted that about 70% of the book is in standard notation. I’m glad I can read because you need to in order to get the most out of this book.

This is an excellent book and clearly the result of a lot of thought and exploration. It opens up voicing and chords that go way beyond the standard major minor and 7th shapes that are commonly known. My only reservation is that it is not straightforward about being for 4,5 or 6 string basses. The cover art shows a Fender bass which is slightly misleading and it doesn't state what exercises or keys are playable on what bass. This is probably by design - Janek knows what he's doing. I found the answers only in the tablature section - where there are the corresponding number of strings. I'd say maybe 40 to 50 percent of the exercises are for 4 string basses - often it depends on what key you're playing in. Still it's a landmark book and Janek is pushing the edge of capabilities for bass players everywhere.
