I have had one of these previously that I had for 6/7 years which was used daily. Any halogen oven whatever make is worth having in my opinion . They are so easy to use, economical and in lots of uses quicker than a normal oven.I have actually been using these types of ovens for 20 years . Normally they last for 3/4 years depending on use.The Andrew James model was chosen by me because due to my kitchen layout I don't have anywhere to put the hot lid when its taken to turn meat etc so I needed one with a hinged lid. Unfortunately on my last order the mechanism for lifting the lid broke within a couple of weeks and as I often use the extender ring it rendered the oven no good for my purpose. I did contact the seller to see if they would send a replacement holder but they did not phone me back so I had to return the whole oven to Amazon which was waste on an oven really. So for the sellers lack of help I would give them no stars if possible. I you can find another seller of an Andrew James Halogen oven it's the kind I would recommend . I have now plumped for a Daewoo one with a removable top and I am going to have to re jig my kitchen a bit to cope but its worth it.If you have not had a halogen oven before try to make sure that the cover over the fan and bulb in the lid is stainless steel - often the cheaper makes are not and the coating soon starts peeling off making them useless as the flakes end up in your cooking.UPDATE - bought a Daewoo after this which was awkward for me to use as I have no where to put the lid when it's taken off and hot. This only lasted a year and was very noisy. First the timer packed up then the thermostat so I had to send it back which the suppliers were very good about.I have now purchased another Andrew James and the difference is noticeable straight away . Its far more quiet and cooks evenly and the lift up lid is a great bonus to me. I have not used the extender ring mechanism as yet hopefully it'll do better than the last

Perfect - almost
This is a replacement for our original Andrew James hinged -lid halogen, which eventually failed due to rust. Sad day and then discovered that Andrew James had stopped trading. Nobody else made these type of halogen oven.Looked at a Remoska but realised they are really quite small and much slower. We tried an air-fryer - too small and fiddly, and you couldn’t see what was happening inside without opening it and losing expensive heat. So went back to halogen, one with a removable lid. What a nuisance to have to keep a large chunk of precious work top space free and dry just for the burning hot lid. Hated it but put up with it - until by chance saw this one was back - hooray! This is almost as good as the original, some little differences but nothing to worry about. Price has doubled but no doubt it will be because the original company no longer exists. Still think it’s worth it as it’s in use every day - saves such a lot of time and energy. No preheating - put food in, close lid and turn on. My scones and sponge cake are better than in the conventional fan oven.Still has the handy presets for time and temperature. Still comes with a spare bulb. Still comes with a set of accessories (we kept our others as spares, including the glass bowl).I did note what one reviewer said about slackening off the screws for the metal bulb cover before using the oven for the first time to avoid them seizing later, and did that. Thank you to them.I also take care to lift the lid up after cooking and wipe away any condensation to slow down any rust. So easy to clean, even after doing a whole English breakfast or roast dinner.Love it.

This is the perfect replacement for my combi microwave!
The first oven arrived with a scratched lid. I promptly returned it and it was replaced. The return could have been faster but the replacement is PERFECT. Good customer service to! The reason for only four stars is that the price has ROCKETED since I bought it only a FEW WEEKS ago!!! I paid ÂŁ57.98, now it is ÂŁ77.98 ... in a few weeks ???? Looks like I bought it just in time! However the oven is just perfect for my needs. I have cooked various things in it including sausages, bread and vegetarian meals. All cook PERFECTLY. 8 sausages only took literally minutes from defrosted (microwave) and contrary to other reviewers I didn't need to turn the sausages/chicken pieces over, they cooked all over and were delicious as were my vegetarian burgers to.The biggest selling point is the fact that it comes with a REPLACEMENT element. When my Cookworks AS823EZX combi microwave elements burned out I couldn't find replacements for the quartz heating elements. This put me off investing in another combi microwave. I then saw this oven which appears like a glorified mixer by appearance and decided on this. Not only that it has a fantastic two year warranty and even comes with said spare element, so I should get a lot of use out of it. It is not only quicker, cheaper and more efficient than the old conventional oven but far easier to clean. It also came with various utensils which are a bit flimsy but they are fine for my use. I haven't needed to use the spacer as I will not cook for more than two 99.5% of the time. The digital display looks a bit "retro" and only cooks in whole minutes and not seconds but I haven't found this a big problem. I could never recommend a combi microwave again or any other halogen oven that spare elements are not available. Some users of other brands have complained that once the heating element burns out it is rendered useless. The fact it came with a replacement element in the box was the selling point for me. (Had it not been for the sudden rocket in price I would have given it five stars.)I am very happy with it!

A truly useful, compact cooking utensil.
Extremely easy to use, very portable, the all round visibility when cooking a great advantage. Useful as an extra oven at large functions. Excellent value.
