LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this !!!!!
I am 80 years old so going around the house to turn lights on or off was a task for me. This (without a doubt) has been the best little helper. If I wake up in the middle of the night I can control all the lights in the house before getting out of bed or I can go to bed at night and turn all the lights off after getting in bed..This is by far the best item I have bought to make my life easier...!!PS.. The "double" remote is a must have...

Best solution for a room without built in light switches
Many rooms in my home do not have a light switch. I have installed these in 2 rooms so far. They have been a GAME CHANGER. I love how easy they were to install.

Works great for my application
I bought this to control my string lights on our screened in porch. As you can see in the pictures, the outlet is about 10ft up on the wall which worked out great for our lights, but makes plugging things in impossible without dragging out a ladder. Ideally the outlet would have been wired to a switch to begin with, but that isn't the case here. This does exactly what I need it to do with no problems so far.I mounted the remote next to our 3 gang switch box inside the house, and it really doesn't look too out of place to the average person. I chose this product in particular because the remote looks about as close to a 'decora' switch as you can get. The door leading out to our patio is just to the left in the picture, and the outlet is on the exterior wall. There's no problem with communication through the wall. Some reviewers are frustrated it doesn't fit in a standard 'decora' style cover plate like in the picture, but I doubt that was the intended purpose so I can't dock them for that, although that would have been a nice touch. Other reviewers also claim you have to push the button multiple times to get it to function, I find a simple press and hold for a fraction of a second makes it work every time.I really can't find any complains for $17. The best and most reliable option every time would obviously be to wire your receptacle to a switch, but if you can't or don't want to do that a couple minor "quirks" don't seem like a huge deal to me.For what it's worth, there is also an on/off button on the plug in, so if your remote battery dies (and your plug is within reach) you can easily turn it on and off that way as well. I'll likely order a couple spare batteries to keep on hand.Great product, I ordered a second one to have for future projects!

Doesn’t turn off reliably
Others mentioned this. It’s absurd but true. Turns right on but multiple presses to turn off, if it ever does.Probably will be returning. 2 outlet version works great.Edit: I unplugged it, and it seems to have reset it. It’s worked significantly better since then. I find it odd but hopefully it stays working.Edit again: hasn’t missed a beat since the outlet was power cycled. Bumped to 4 stars since having to reset an electronics device seems normal.

3.5yrs later still working great (except space heater w/1500watts broke 1)
I'm disabled and these have been SO helpful, and great for turning lights and the fan on/off in the night. We're having an extra cold snap my central heat can't keep up with so I plugged in a 1500watt ceramic space heater but after about 5mins it was off, and wouldn't turn on and it'd shorted out the 1200watt plug.I'm in a newly built apt with childproof outlets and most are too stiff to plug things into even trying hard, which is why I used this plug. I wasn't aware of the wattage limit. If there's a fuse in it I can replace I'd love to know which 1 to order?

Perfect solution to a minor problem
I recently installed a hexagonal multi-light LED fixture in the garage above my car, because I'm a car detail nut and it makes a huge difference. I needed to plug it into the same outlet as the garage door opener. That, in itself, was easy; however, there was no way to turn it off and on without unplugging, etc. I researched a bit and ran across this outlet/switch. Installation is literally plug-and-play. I left the garage door opener on a dedicated outlet, and for the dual outlet, I plugged in the light fixture as well as a garage fan mounted on the ceiling. I painted the switch surround to match my garage and mounted the switch next to the garage door opener controller on the wall. It looks like it came with the house, and it solved my problem. I can now control both the fan and the added LED fixture from the wall switch. Works perfectly.
