Braun series 8 shaver I found to give an excellent close shave with the convenience of an excellent attached trimmer.

Brilliant. Robust, durable and effective. Not cheap but value for money.

I bought this shaver back in September 2003, and was very initially pleased with both the design and performance. However, in April of this year, it suddenly refused to accept a charge, remaining totally dead no matter how long it was charged for. I sent it off to Amazon's repairers under guarantee, and it was returned to me a couple of weeks later fully working with a repair technicians comment "New PCB and cell battery". However, towards the end of June this year, it failed again, seemingly with exactly the same problem. Once again it was sent off to Amazon's repair agent, and a few days ago back it came, working once again. However, this time the technicians comment was that the cutter/foil was totally jammed, but that the device was fully charged when received and in working condition, with just the foil cutter having been cleaned. A note was added that the razor needed cleaning for better performance and longer lifespan. All of which was totally untrue: the razor was totally dead when I returned it, and the foil was definitely not jammed as I borrowed it to use on my old Series 7, to get a decent shave before I sent off the faulty razor. It was then thoroughly cleaned before being replaced and sent off with the Series 8. All of which is to make the point that while I can accept I might just have been unlucky with that particular razor as regards the failures, the repair agent's comments were not only nonsense, but downright insulting. I can only assume that at some point my razor, or maybe just the technician's report got swapped with another one. Further supporting this is the fact that the foil cutter, whilst clean, has a faint background smell attached to it which I can only describe as being like that of an unwashed body, So, I strongly suspect the foil I have got back is not mine, nor perhaps the razor either. Very discouraging! January 2025, and this razor has failed again with exactly the same problem: essentially after a night on charge, it is totally dead and just beeps when I press the On button. It's no longer under warranty, so time to buy another razor, I guess.

Excellent shaver. Bought for my son, who decided that he liked to a beard. But when he uses it, he said that it is easy to use. I can't comment on the battery life as my son goes weeks without shaving. But it's a success with him when he uses it

Bought as a gift for my husband as his manual razor kept giving him shaving rash. It’s his first electric shaver and he is over the moon. He uses it every day and he says it gives him a very close shave and doesn’t pull on his skin despite the stubble hair being really short

Best value Braun razor in my opinion

The box wasn't sealed. Didn't look new, but more a "Open box, like new". At least is working.

Nachdem ich meinen neuen Rasierer, den Braun 8 series (8617s) bereits einige Tage testen konnte, würde ich gerne einen ersten Überblick meiner Eindrücke geben. Das Gerät macht einen wertigen Eindruck und liegt mir gut in der Hand. Das entstehende Geräusch würde ich als „normallaut“ einordnen. Mit der Gründlichkeit der Rasur bin ich sehr zufrieden, das liegt sicher auch an dem sehr beweglichen Scherkopf. Meine relativ empfindliche Gesichtshaut kommt gut mit dem neuen Rasierer zurecht. Ich neige gelegentlich zu Rötungen (über das normale Maß hinaus), aber mit dem 8617s bisher kein Problem. Sehr gut gefällt mir das mitgelieferte Zubehör. Es ist nicht nur ein Ladekabel dabei, sondern auch ein Standfuß, in dem der Rasierer geladen werden kann. Der Akku hält eine Stunde, auch in der Praxis, was einigen Tagen Nutzung entspricht. Der Ladestand wird mit bis zu 5 Balken dargestellt. Aber selbst wenn man das Laden verschwitzt hat, ist dank der Schnelladefunktion innerhalb weniger Minuten eine vollständige Morgenrasur möglich. Super ist auch die der Form des Rasierers angepasste „Tasche“. So kann ich den entsprechend geschützten Rasierer auf Reisen direkt in Koffer legen, wodurch mein Kulturbeutel nicht so übervoll ist. Ich kann den Braun 8617s wirklich empfehlen, und hoffe, dass er mir noch lange erhalten bleibt.

Sehr guter Rasierer, liegt gut in der Hand, rasiert gründlich, Preis- Leistungsverhältnis in Ordnung, viel besser als bei Series 9

Bon rasoir ,rase de près , tenue de la batterie 10 jours ,j'appréhendais car mon série 5 était filaire ,pas encore essayé le nettoyage automatique avec cartouche Braun .

Works great. I get the impression this is just as good as the #9 model but with a significant saving.
