What if there is no deck to attach them, can they be attached to previous ladder?

If you put enough weight holding them in place in the pool, you don't need to attach them to anything. We were trying to figure out how to attach them to our deck in a way that would be more sturdy than those plastic wings they include, but went ahead and started using the steps in the pool until we settled on a plan. And we've discovered they're actually fine without even being attached! Yes, attaching them to something outside the pool, a deck, or whatever DIY way you come up with, would make them sturdier, but you also have to think of being able to detach them when you close the pool for winter. Those plastic wings they include for nailing to the deck just seem very flimsy to me, especially to be nailing down and then removing every winter. We were thinking of a strap around the handles that could attach to a hook or something underneath the deck. But as i said we haven't gotten around to deciding details yet, and really don't need to at this point. You have to come up with something to weigh the steps down ALOT in the pool anyway, as most reviews have said, just to keep them from flopping and banging around in all that water. Mostly because you don't want them banging against your liner. We wanted something easily removable for winter, so we got 3 of those sturdy black storage bins with yellow lids, and filled them with bricks. There's about 40 pounds of bricks in each bin, and we zip tied one bin on each side of the steps and one bin underneath towards the back. That's 120 pounds of weight holding the steps in place, and it works just fine without being attached to anything. We got that much weight to keep the steps from banging against the liner, with people swimming around, and kids up and down the steps, they would move a bit if there wasn't enough weight. But it also ended up solving the issue about attaching the steps to the deck. its not necessary anymore! lol :) Also, i want to mention - when you are thinking about attaching weights to the steps, also think about first getting some kind of mat for underneath the steps to protect your liner. They sell these specific mats, but they are very thin and get bad reviews. I took one of those poofy tub mats you put in the shower to keep from slipping, and i cut it in half lengthwise, then used zip ties to attach each piece to the bottom of the steps. Its working great! I don't worry about the steps rubbing against the liner now. Yes, there is some DIY involved in any plastic steps you're going to put down into a pool, but its been worth it! We like these and are glad we chose them. Good luck!

Actually you enter from your deck and exit via steps only one side with steps

what material is this ladder made out of

PVC style plastic. You are supposed to fill ladder with sand to help keep it in place, we were not able to get very much sand in the slots and the ladder wants to sway around once the pump is on.

Wow great Ladder

this was perfect for my Mother! she is now able to go in and out from the deck i built for her. and this ladder looks extravagant. we used a funnel to fill with sand. still holding strong.

Buyer Beware

The box was opened on both ends with the parts falling out of it. The box was very weak and is probably why it was falling apart. The steps weighed about 50lbs and the box to weak to handle the steps. The instructions were a little vague and the Hand rails were not stable. The ad on Amazon states free returns but the company stated I had to pay for the return. After many emails Amazon said they would refund me the cost for shipping. I paid a little over $200 for the steps and the cost for shipping was $365. I tried to explain this to Amazon but they said they would still refund me. STUPID!!I had to tape the whole box because it was pretty much destroyed and take it to UPS. I am waiting on my refund and I am not getting any response from Amazon regarding the return. WHAT A HASSLE and if I am out of pocket for the $365 shipping costs, there is going to be a problem and I will tell the whole world what happened to me.Make sure u read the Company’s return policy on everything u order!!!

Better than a wobbly ladder

These are good steps for the most part but for the price they should come with weights. My box arrived split wide open down the center and retaped, thankfully all of the pieces were still in it. Also have your skimmer net handy, when I put this in my pool it unleashed a ton of plastic shavings into the water.

YOU’LL NEED TO BUY WEIGHTS

Typical China product with sparse and inaccurate instructions. Despite that assembly was easy. Expect wobbly hand rails. Expect that you will need to add additional weight to keep this in place. I used sand bags from Home Depot. Instructions vaguely depict weights which inconveniently must be purchased separately. Mediocre product but it gets the job done.
