RM Series Replacement Remote Control for HUMAX RM-F01

Like many others I was having problems with my Humax RM-F01 remote control, in my case the OK button required several presses before it responded, (if at all). I was considering buying a complete new Freesat box when I saw this replacement remote control on Amazon and thought that it was worth a try.The remote was shipped very quickly and has solved all my problems. It took a little bit of getting used to as the function buttons are in different positions from the original Humax remote but it is clearly marked and works like a dream. At only about £11 it's a bargain! I should point out that it comes without batteries, I just took the batteries out of my old Humax remote and used them.It's now about 10 months later and the replacement remote is starting to fail with some buttons needing several presses to operate. After trying a new set of batteries with no improvement on performance I've bought a genuine Humax replacement. The original Humax remote lasted about two years, I'm hoping this one might do a little better.

The remote was delivered promptly and works very well. As stated by other reviewers, the layout of the buttons differs from the original and is somewhat random. Even when you learn where the various buttons are they do not form a logical pattern, with some of the commonly used ones being small and buried in amongst others. If you like watching movies in low lighting this could become tedious, however the original was hardly at the cutting edge of design.The other point to note is that the original remote could be set to one of five (I think) sets of codes, this allows two or more Humax boxes to sit side by side without the remote working on both of them. This replacement remote cannot be set to anything other than the default setting, so if you have a second Humax box in the same room you will have problems. I have a Humax Freesat box and also a "Youview" Freeview box and push any button on either remote and both boxes respond. There is no ability to change the codes on the "Youview" box so I have had to return to using the temperamental original Freesat remote. If anyone can prove me wrong on this I welcome their input.

Having struggled with the original remote for some time, including taking it apart and giving it a good clean (which improved it for a while) I thought I would invest in a replacement remote. As this replacement is half the cost of one from Humax I thought it would be worth a go. So far it does everything the original one does (or rather did, when it was new). Admittedly it no longer works as a universal remote, so if this function is essential to you you'll have to look elsewhere. Personally, I did for a while use the Humax remote to switch the TV off and on, but I would sometimes forget what setting it was on so would inadvertently operate the Humax instead of the TV, or would be pushing the buttons on the remote with nothing happening, because the TV button had been pressed accidentally.The only minor complaint I have is that the buttons for the fast forward etc. are a little too big. Yes, some of the buttons are in different places, presumably for copyright reasons, but no doubt I'll get used to their new placement.

The RMC replacement remote for around £12 is brilliant. It was great to have control back over our Humax Freeview after struggling to get the OK button to do anything on the original remote. I thought I would risk buying the replacement one for that price. It arrived the next day with no instructions - just it. But it did not need them. It worked immediately. OK, the buttons are in different places, but they are clearly marked and do everything the genuine one does - and straight away! It took no time to get used to it. The buttons are positive and all work. It does not look as smart as the original, but who cares, I'd rather one that worked. Let's hope it lasts longer than the poor original. By the way - I did (with a struggle) remove the top off the original one and gave it a good clean, not that it seemed to need it, put it back together all hopeful, but it was exactly the same. That's when I bought this one, so I would recommend risking it and getting this one.

I bought this remote control because it was cheap and available next day with Amazon Prime. It duly arrived next day, 15 Dec, and worked well. However, after just over a month on Jan 18th, it failed completely. Very poor compared to my genuine Humax control which had worked for many years and only failed because a drink was spilled on it. My advice is to stick with a genuine Humax item which is much better value for money.

Like other reviewers, I needed to replace my original Humax remote due to a failing OK button. This remote was delivered quickly from Buyme. It works excellently. I do not use or need the programmable buttons of the original remote so this is not an issue for me. Do not be put off by the picture of the remote on the Amazon site. All the buttons are labelled up properly, albeit not in the same positions as the original, but easy to re-learn.Update 20/01/2015 After 2 years heavy use some of the regularly used buttons are starting to misbehave; they need pressing harder to respond. No button has yet failed completely, but I am still going to replace the remote. I have been sufficiently satisfied with this product to purchase another one - after all, less than £12 for 2 years use isn't too bad.

I needed to replace my original control which I've had for more than 8 yrs , however , I didn't want to pay over £30 for a new humax control . Having read the reviews for this model which is considerably cheaper , I thought I'd give it a try . It's perfect , works really well , even better than the humax model . The buttons are configured slightly differently, but it's easy to work , I'm very happy
