Size doesn't matter
I wanted a little more low end frequency inside my car, having never used one of these before I was sceptical about what it would provide.Happy to say it does what I want very well, the remote makes it supper simple to remove all bass at a moments notice which is handy if you just want to listen to a podcast which doesn't need all the bass.Wiring is adequately long to accommodate most cars so the only cables you will also need are a phono RCA cable to plug from the head unit to the sub, or if you can you can set it up via the speakers in the car you may need some extra speaker wire. This is not plug and play to wire in so don't expect it to be a 10 minute job, but the results are worth the effort.Rich crisp bass and being adjustable it works with synthesised bass and real bass (drums) so a good bit of kit for the cost.

Perfect for Vans
I have a Vauxhall Astra van, my idea was to get a huge sub and put it in the rear of the van but with so many tools In the back it would've likely got destroyed within a month or so. So I saw one of these that fits snugly under the passenger seat and thought I'd give it a go. Wow what a difference the sound makes. I have it at half gain with the frequency crossover at about a 1/4 of the way up. It was dead easy to Install I just wired it into the back of my aftermarket head unit rather than to the battery and it works perfectly. For a two person cab in the Astra van it's more than powerful enough. Best purchase I've made this year

Couldn’t be happier
I had already upgraded the speakers and head unit in vw t5 and to be perfectly honest I wasn’t at all impressed with the sound. The speakers in the doors are quite low down to be fair but it just sounded tinny and quiet and the bass was non existent.I just came across this by chance really. I started to read into it and the reviews etc.it seemed to sound like exactly what I was looking for, something that would make the sound feel nice around me. Not to loud or thumping but enough extra to hear the bass and beats properly.I read a fair few reviews and thought I’d go for it.It arrived the next day as usual with Amazon.I’m not an audio guy or an electrician but I’m fairly handy and have done a lot of upgrades to my camper so this wasn’t to difficult to wire up. It took a few hours to route the wiring harness from the back of the head unit down under the footwell carpet and under the driver seat. The fit couldn’t be more perfect ( there is a gap under the driver seat on the t5 ) even a few mm bigger and it wouldn’t have gone in……but it did!I’m soooooo impressed with the sound in my van now( so much so I’m looking for a space to put another in the back somewhere 🤣) the difference is amazing. Everything sounds how it should sound now.I went for the DA version rather than the EA version. Some people will tell you you don’t need the DA and that if your head unit can control a sub separately you don’t need the remote so just to go for the EA version.I disagree myself as the DA has dynamic bass which I believe is missing from the EA. I also think that even with the sub control from the head unit ( which I have ) the remote control gives you a fair bit more control over things. That’s just my opinion but for £150 you can go wrong with this little sub. It’s never gonna blow the windows out but for an amazing upgraded sound to your system this little thing is the business.I took the advise of other people on here and I have been so impressed so if your reading this then you should just get one delivered TOMORROW ,!!

Its decent
The actual quality of the bass isn't amazing, but its ok. Physics will always be the limiting factor on a subwoofer of this size, but I think Pioneer could have got more out of the hardware with better DSP.It can do some lower bass notes when the volume is raised. But these lower bass notes are too quiet compared to the upper bass notes. At high volumes this makes total sense, as said above, physics exists, a small driver can only do so much before it distorts especially when hitting a budget price range. However, I think the product could be greatly improved if they added some better DSP to raise the lower frequencies at lower volume levels. This would help to balance the subwoofer better, because the hardware can do it, it just needs an EQ that changes with volume so it can do its best work within its hardware limits at any given volume level. If you have a car with a reasonable factory audio system without a subwoofer, you will notice an improvement with this. The bass won't hit hard in *all* music, but it will do a decent job in most songs, and unlike your factory system the bassline on your music won't phase in and out of existence as it falls below what the factory speakers can reproduce. It doesn't compare to a home audio subwoofer such as the Logitech Z5500 or the Cambridge Audio Minx X301 of which I have used both. The audio quality isn't as good, and it doesn't go as low as either. But it was never going to, those both have wall power and more space. For its size, running on a car battery without drinking power, it does a good job.Its a solid improvement, and worth your time to install. But it could also be better with some tweaks.

Great unit. Sturdy and well made
People who have bought this and have criticised the sound are delusional. You can’t get window rattling bass from something this size. But the sound is fantastic. I fitted it behind the driver’s seat of my tractor and it transforms the sound of the head unit and two 4 inch pioneer speakers. It does “thump” but not the way some reviews seem to expect. Buy it it’s great

Way better than I expected!
My cars in built stereo severely lacked any kind of low end frequencies, even though it has a sub and with the bass on full, drums and bass guitars were none existent. I was not looking for anything to shake the windows, so thought this little sub would do the trick. It is actually way better than I was hoping for, I have the gain set to about 1/3 and it is fulling the void beautifully, I can now hear the bass guitars and drums again! There is definitely a lot more room to turn this up if you want more boom, for such a small unit it really packs a punch.
