This is a pigment for epoxy resin / gelcoat, not actual gelcoat. This product is designed to go into an unpigmented epoxy resin / gelcoat to change the colour.

is this the resin I should use to hide the joints in my quartz counter tops

This product is only a pigment to be used in Polyurethane based resins and would not be suitable for your project.

Is this suitable for mixing with clear casting epoxy resin, or must there be another additive introduced prior to, at the same time as or after this ?

It depends on the epoxy but generally this pigment is compatible with many bisphenol A epoxy resins. We would recommend a small scales test to ensure it works before undertaking anything important.
