Trouble With Evil
The Trouble With Spells was a really good book. Portia Mullins has always thought she was a normal and had just a "normal" family. On her 16th birthday, she finds out that her grandmother and her are witches and her father is a warlock. Magic is in her blood. And then Vance, a guy that all the girls in her school want, is attracted to her and also a warlock. Vance moved to their town about 2 year before because he was running from his father. When he first started school, he saw Portia for the first time and knew instantly that he wanted her and that she was a witch. But he promised her grandmother that he would keep his distance because her family wanted her to have as normal a life as possible before she was 16 and came into her powers. So Vance waited until she found out and then he did what he could to make her his. He's been on the run for years, trying to stay away from his powerful father that just wanted to use him and his blood to do evil. But there is only so much time you can run and hide before the things that you were running from find you. Sometimes you have to stay and fight to finally get your life back.Vance is a really good character, he worries all the time of becoming evil. He does so many things and worries so much that you know he is truly good under all. He was raised in a messed up situation and used for nefarious reasons. Portia is a really good character as well. She will do so many things for the people she cares about. She loves Vance so much that she will do just about anything for him. Even if it puts her in risk or if she has to put her life at risk.Definitely worth the read if you like romance, paranormal things, and a good story.

what a awesome read
I've recently discovered that when it comes to Lacey Weatherford's books they will all be a hit with me. Her books take the reader on a journey to another place and time. She has a way of telling the story in a manner that you get so lost in it that you can't see anything but the story. The only question I ever have when reading her books is how consuming is the book gonna be? This book is my all time favorite by Lacey. This is probably because it's paranormal ( which is my most favorite genre) and I got lost in this story.Vance is 18 years old and a very powerful Warlock. Exactly how powerful I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer to that. He's on the run from his father. After two years the girl he has watched from afar is finally going to be 16 and find out that she's a witch. He's been drawn to her from the minute he saw her even though they have never spoken which makes it that much harder because he knows she has a crush on him.Portia just turned 16 and her life has changed forever. She finds out that she's a witch and her Grandma and dad are powerful Coven leaders. Not only that but Vance the boy she's been crushing on for two years feels the same pull as her and happens to be part of her Coven. It also appears that Portia is also a powerful witch. How powerful we don't know since she is just learning but she's capable of doing things that others can't and she adjusts easily to being a witch.Vance and Portia are connected in a way that everyone dreams of. Their love for one another is so strong. They make a promise to one another that you will have to read. It was beautiful. They would do anything to save each other and that is shown in such a way that I cried.I love the whole witch storyline. Lacey took a different approach on the dark magic portion of the story to me. I really enjoyed learning how they would change if they got into the dark side of their magic. I will admit to being curious about what Vance's dad might have been up to. We got to see a lot with Portia learning about using her powers and I look forward to seeing more. I hope that we learn more about what Vance is capable of doing in the future books.Thank you so much for such a wonderful read. You never disappoint me. I look forward to seeing what happens next for these two and their friends. A definite must read for all book lovers out there.

Grace's Touch
I hard-core swooned reading this book! It set of all my heartstrings and took me for an emotional ride! It reminded me so much of "Mystic Wolves" (especially book one) that I found myself fan-girling at any given point. Though I wasn't altogether sure about the insta-love thing at first (as a usually tend to shy away from such ridiculousness) Portia and Vance helped me get over any lingering doubts with the pure love they had for one another. Never did it seem forced and its honest, open, and vulnerable completeness torn at my heart and made it bleed with girly adoration. If you are looking for a romance-type fictional book (which I wasn't, but I'm not complaining), then pick up "The Trouble with Spells" ASAP!! You will not be disappointed. Though, if you were looking for action (which I kind of was, but again NOT COMPLAINING) then this book may not be for you. Until the last few chapters, the only thing of consequence were a nightmare, brief encounter with a demon, a near accident, and some rumored sightings of possible malicious beings. Overall, I think the crowd this will most appeal to are young teen women. Let's face it, there's just too much mushy-lovey-dovey-ness and not enough action to balance it all out for any other age or gender group.

Good story, nice character development, but the editing is weak
This is a rather enchanting book with an unexpected mix of Wiccan and Christian doctrines. Vance, a troubled warlock, has been waiting patiently for Portia, the main character, to turn sixteen. That is when she discovers she is a witch and part of a strong coven. This genealogical revelation changes the course of her life, but not her beliefs.Author Lacey Weatherford is a great storyteller. She does a good job weaving plot and characters together to create an engaging and enjoyable read. Her character development is well done, and the story becomes more and more exciting as the plot unfolds. The only real problem with the book is the number of typos, from misspelled words to extra words thrown into sentences. It takes away from the story’s flow and is very distracting.Other than the need for more editing, this book is very good. 4 1/4 stars

The Trouble With Spells
This is the story of Vance Mangum and his love for Portia Mullins but he had promised her father that he would not contact her before her sixteen birthday where her family would have informed her that she was a witch. Vance's mother had asked a witch to take her away from her evil husband. Her husband had begun to teach their son evil magic and turn there son evil as he was but Vance's aunt found protection with Portia's family coven. Her begins the story of true love a friends betrail and kidnapping. I plan to buy more books in this series

Fantastic book, loved it.
I loved this book, yes; it started in the POV of Vance, and how he saw her, but could not even talk to her, not yet. Why, because she had no idea she was a witch. Then into Portia's POV for the rest of the book, and I loved the idea behind her name. Brilliant. I really loved the connection between the two characters, and the electricity they seemed to generate. Who doesn't love a good romance, and this alone was a fantastic, throw in the fact there are witches and warlocks into the mix. I just can't fault it.I read this novel in one sitting, just could not put it down. Will be looking for the second part, so I can continue to read on, to find out what happens with their story. I recommend this to one. All I can say is loved it.

A YA witch/wizard adventure with a hint of supernatural
A YA witch/wizard paranormal story with an unexpected twist or lapse into the supernatural along the way. I think it will appeal to younger readers also and luckily the writer has kept the content teen clean. I think some of the superfluous details could have been omitted to make it stronger, for example detailed accounts of going from one room to the other or scenes that added nothing to the plot. Other than that it was a pleasant venture into a teenagers world in which Portia is suddenly introduced to the fact she is a witch and the boy she likes is a warlock with a dark past. I didn't think the supernatural element, which becomes apparent at the end of the book, did the storyline any good, but I have read stranger things.

Spellbound!!
It's so good to read a YA paranormal book about witches for a change! And the research into the subject matter is fantastic! And the romantic notion of two powerful witches being soul mates just makes me melt!!The way this story is told, however, does not compel me to read the rest of the series. The two main characters are not quite solid enough. Vance is more believable than Portia. And sometimes the prose reads like Portia's diary. Unfortunately I felt that the sparks didn't fly from this bonding and was so disappointed by an opportunity truly missed. It could have been so much more.

FANTASTIC!!!
I loved this book. Its very different and the main characters are exciting. I got it free so i was extremely happy when I started reading, it was great. Portia and Vance are great as the main characters, they have to hide their secrets of being a witch and a warlock. I don't really want to write much because it might spoil it for you, so all I'm going to say is its great and its a must read for people who like supernatural and romance. You will never know if you like it intil you read it. Also there is other books in the series so if you loved this book you can read the rest in the series.
