Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner Rising Compendium

I only buy collected versions of comics these days for a variety of reasons and I was excited to add this collection. I remember loving the storyline when it first came out … and it turns out that I still do. I read the whole thing this weekend and really wish there was a follow up to add. Hopefully, there will be at some point.

Inclusive collection of the early adventures of Kyle Raynor as Green Lantern. It is too bad that a follow up volume has not been printed.

My old copies were beginning to fall apart after 30 years. This is perfect for me.

Took me just a few hours to read this thing. It was a lot of fun not too heavy on the sci-fi , Intellectual tech stuff but it was interesting enough to keep me there. Overall, pretty fun look forward to reading more Kyle Rayner GL stuff.

Fantastic compendium of the first part of Kyle’s run. These are the stories I grew up with, so it’s awesome to have them collected like this. Really hope we get another couple of volumes!

While it's CRIMINAL that DC is putting this A+ content into a floppy paperback rather than a nice, sturdy hardcover omnibus (same for Batman Beyond and Starman comics from the 90s) it's still really nice to see this run of GL get a solid reprint. These are the stories that turned me into a comic lover. Back in the early 90s, I'd save up my allowance and go to the local comic stores every weekend to buy ANY comics that featured this version of GL (in addition to the ongoing GL title issues). Hopefully someday DC will get their heads on straight and start reprinting these fun stories in hardcover format instead of funding sub-par shows that go straight to streaming services.

I really like Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern. The 90s style and art was great. I really enjoyed the first half of the book. Then it got off track with the Guy Gardner issues and the team ups with the Teen Titans. I didn’t like what happened to his girlfriend. Then the book kinda went nowhere so I don’t know.

The compendium starts with Emerald Twilight showing a distraught Hal Jordan lashing out at the Corps in his frustration and ends up with Kyle Rayner in interstellar action with the Titans. Good storytelling from Ron Marz and Marv Wolfman throughout. Well worth getting if you are curious about how Kyle became the sole Green Lantern of the 90's.

Best ever book on my favouriteGL

I'm a big Green Lantern fan but I hadn't read much about Kyle Rayner before this. The book is printed well apart from a bit of ink bleed. Some of the art, especially for the green constructs, are blurry. I'm not sure if this is intended or some other issue but I am not a fan. The stories are, like the art; not that good. As a modern comic reader we are spoiled with fantastic art and often engaging stories, this it a bit all over the place unfortunately. Perhaps if you were already a fan you might find value in this book, if not; maybe read something else.
