I was on the fence between 4 and 5 stars, but when reviewing something very good that appears to be superior to its competitors, I round up. I'll address the CONs below the PROs.When gadgets include "extras," they typically don't do much other than add clutter to your life. Not so with Bold Route's steering wheel tray. The various storage compartments and reusable trash pouch are genuinely useful add-ons.PRO:-- Sturdy canvas case with a leather platform surface reinforced to hold a 5-10 lb laptop without drooping-- Adjustable straps for making it taut. Set them once and you're good to go.-- Well-stitched compartments for pens, note pads, phone, drink, etc.-- Great for eating on the road (while parked!)-- Fabric steering wheel pouch has enough give and support to slip securely over back of wheel without scratching it or slipping. (See photo)-- Enough surface area for a laptop 10" deep.-- Trash pouch is ingenious. It's puckered on top and wide enough to stick a hand inside and deep enough to hold most "carbage." Easy to empty and clean.-- For use behind the front seats, it allows for even more breathing room.CON:-- The zipper is difficult! It's a pain to dislodge the zippers from their fully unzipped positions. The zipper is very high quality, but the teeth curve in a way when the case is closed that makes it difficult to release EVERY TIME. I recommend just closing the case and using the case's velcro handle to keep it shut.-- You will need to move your seat back as far as it can go to and possibly lower your steering wheel height (and probably tilt back a bit as well) to comfortably use a keyboard. If you are an especially large person, it may not work for typing. (I'm sure this is true with other mobile offices aside from ones that slant down along the face of the steering wheel with a ledge for tablets. This unit is designed mostly for laptops. And lunch.)I really dig this thing. It's portable, sturdy, and between compartments and the trash pouch, it has just about all bases covered.

I’m a big fan of multi-functionality in a product. I didn’t know I needed this until I saw it, and boy am I glad I got it! I finally have a safe place to store my laptop when not in use, and a safe transport of it to the car where I often find myself working in between clients as I travel from job to job. I’m often eating lunch in the car too so having a mini dining table in front of me is sooo much better than eating out of my lap. It’s very sturdy, has many handy compartments and wipes clean easily. I highly recommend this if you’re on the fence. It’s a good value product, and a great gift idea too!

I've always wished there was a product like this for those times when I need to hop on a work meeting from the car, or need to quickly get some work done while on the go. Love the simple functionality of this tray, but also love that I can use it as a laptop carrying case. I also appreciate all the pockets and compartments. Very well thought-out design, I highly recommend this for all the digital nomads out there!

I bought this to be able to comfortably use my laptop in the truck while on a job site, and that's exactly what this product allowed me to do. This gives me the ability to work in a cool air conditioned truck when out on a construction site on a steamy summer day. I usually put my laptop on the console, but I don't like having to keep my body twisted up to type an email or send out a field report. This tray gave me the ability to be comfortable and efficient. I have also used it for my iPad Pro and it works great. The support for my heavy laptop is good, the tray doesn't sag or bend. The tray folds up and zips to be less than the size of the standard padfolio, so can fit in the back of a seat of between a seat and the console. Also great for being able to eat in a vehicle, giving you ample flat space to spread out a meal. I would recommend this product for anyone who spends time in their vehicles for work or wants to give themselves a level work surface in between trips.

Our family includes 2 teenagers who are constantly on the go. A lot of times, they ask to be taken somewhere to meet with friends, i.e. Boba tea, frozen yogurt, Starbucks, etc... where they don't intend to stay long. Often, they don't want a parent to accompany them, or to even stay in the same store with them, leaving me in the car catching up on some online chores, on the phone on hold with customer service for something, online shopping for gifts, etc. This steering wheel tray is a great idea for a way to hold things in front of you while sitting in the car.Now, it's been shown that people who eat in their cars tend to be less healthy (probably because they're eating drive through fast food like me) but having a tray that can fit over the steering wheel so that it can hold food in front instead of on the console next to me is really convenient. I can put my diet drink in the cup holder and the salad in front of me so I can feel better about eating in the car. Heh.I'm sure there are lots of companies that make these but this particular one has been sturdy and packs up nicely when not in use. The only issue I have with it is that it's a little too deep. With my seat all the way back in our Honda Pilot, I have to tilt the seat back in order for the tray to completely drop down. Our family is on the short side though so the steering wheel may need to be adjusted so that the tray fits better.Otherwise, this is a good product that will be used often but not everyday.Recommended.
