Should not scratch your wood floor. The wheels are fairly soft.

Are the casters easy to attach with a manual screwdriver only?

the casters just push in and lock themselves in, no tools required. This is a small dolly useful for moving narrow shelves and short stacks of boxes, but I would get something bigger to move furniture.

No idea. Same thing happened to me. Garbage dolly. Totally a waste of money. I ended up buying the cheap wood ones from Harbor Freight. Been using them ever since and still working great.
