It gives the thermostat a nice look and it looks good.

My old thermostat didn't match the paint lines from the thermostat before it. This fit perfect to cover up so I don't have to paint again any time soon.

Don't want to repaint a wall after replacing a t-stat? I know I don't. This handy plate may solve that for you. It did for me. Nice offset color-wise too if you pair it with a silver stat. Or you could paint the plate... That kind of defeats the whole don't paint thing though...

I expected the backer to closer to thermostat.Use a single gang low voltage bracket to get a firm mount.

Wish I had this when I first installed the sensi. It's easy to remove if you purchased this after the fact. Make sure you read the "up" on the wall plate. I guess I was tired and didn't see that. I love doing things twice! Turn off the furnace, plug the screen off, take a photo of the wires, remove wires, and remove screws. Put the wall plate on, the back of sensi, line up the holes, attach the screws, center the bubble, insert the wires (use photo), attach the screen, turn on the power to the furnace. You don't have to do anything on the app. Just give it a minute the sensi will reconnect to the internet. It will automatically come back on. You're back were you were when you had the sensi first installed. I wish this wall plate came with the thermostat. It's definitely worth the purchase to cover up the site of the unmatch paint and any holes you need to cover from the older thermostats. I don't feel like fixing it at this moment maybe when I get bore one day. Til then looks great!

After removing my old digital thermostat, there was a mark on the wall and I no longer have matching paint. This wall plate was perfect and did exactly as it was supposed to, looks great, no painting.

...that was the question.We replaced an Emerson/White Rodgers 1F95-1277 model with an Emerson/White Rodgers 1F95U-42WFB updated WiFi model, and unfortunately the older model was larger than the replacement, and the previous paint job was done with the thermostat installed.This should have been included with an expensive ($350+) thermostat, but it wasn't. Fortunately, the SA5B wall plate was easily available and worked like a charm as the holes line up perfectly withe the 1F95U-* model line. It's also big enough to hide and cover more than the older model's based. The final result does not look out of place -- from far enough away, it almost appears like an extended frame/bezel.

The trim plate is a nice accent for the thermostat controller. Helps cover up the mess left over from the old thermostat. Easy install and quick delivery.

Cover the old thermostat holes and paint perfectly but wish it was designed to flush the thermostat in the wall.

I do recommend this plate as it helps set the thermostat out from the wall. ( also covers up paint lines from the previous thermostat 😉)
