Great classic...
...if you want a Tai Chi primer this is a good one. You will not be able to learn Tai Chi from any book and this one is no exception. But if you want to get at the root of some of the basics of Tai Chi practice, this is an excellent primer. Get it, study it, review it, incorporate it into your daily practice, and your Tai Chi will improve. Now can you truly catch a fly with some chop sticks by reading a book? You know the answer.

I liked the explanation of the basics
I liked the explanation of the basics. T'ai Chi requires a change in mindset and an openmindedness to the Eastern point of view. This book explains the theory well.

Very Helpful
This book clearly shows the style of T'ai Chi that Cheng Man-Ch'ing practiced. While a book may not be the best way for some to learn or follow the steps, it is a great adjunct to a class or a video.

Good Book
As Far as learning the Cheng Man Ching version of Yang Tai Chi Chuan this is a good book giving the photos and postures by Cheng Man Ching himself. As for traditional Yang Tai Chi Chuan you will find alterations in his curriculum when comparing to Yang Cheng Fu or his elders.

Good, clear source for the short form.
I actually learnt taichi from this book years ago. It was the only such book in the local library and I had had enough of Japanese martial arts after several years so thought to give it a go.Although there are no transition moves pictured here, the text is sufficiently clear to learn from. The proof, in my own case, was that years later I was able to see Cheng performing the exact same form on Youtube. There were only a couple of minor footwork 'errors' which I soon corrected.I especially like the inspirational introductory chapters in this book, where Cheng explains the theory of taichi and contrasts it with 'external' styles. It seems to me particularly important to study the theory of taichi as the movements might mislead into thinking it works in the same way as conventional martials arts. There is a lot of this about these days and a lot of scam artists to exploit ignorance on the part of beginners. This book, especially in conjunction with online video footage of Cheng, provides a good source for the genuine movements.

Completely satisfied!
I'm completely satisfied foremost because i pretty much knew what i was buying. But i couldn't do that if U didn't offer it so yes thank you! I read only according to my specific preferences so your general mail with new books doesn't trigger me but recomendations in my line of "already ordered topics" will trigger me 100%.Excuse me for any writing mistakes but english is not my native language.
