Great buy

Great fun for the whole family.A kid who's been getting bullied at school and mistreated by an older sibling, all while his single father has to work long hours to support his family - finds a suit of armor from outer space that crashed on Earth. This suit of armor also happens to be a sentient cybernetic "robot" which even though it can think for itself it still needs a pilot to move and operate.He enjoys the super powered suit a little too much at first, as he gives the bully a taste of his own medicine. Quickly learning a bit of responsibility, he decides it's better to save people rather than scare them.He finds out that the alien suit of armor was designed to defend a pint-sized race of creatures against some intergalactic bullies, some interplanetary warrior race that's spreading through space conquering every planet they come across.And now it's up to a boy and his living robo-armor to save the day.More than just a sci-fi action flick, the movie offers up a decent bit of drama and comedy - as well as lessons in self-confidence, standing up for yourself, and repairing family bonds.The movie is a throwback to old-school sci-fi B-Movies.Also stylistically and thematically, it plays out like a very kid friendly version of The Guyver or IronMan.For modern viewers who like comics like The Blue Beetle, look no further for its obvious inspiration.If you liked "a boy and his robot" stories like The Iron Giant or Gigantor, or sci-fi adventures like The Explorers or Flight of the Navigator - or any of the other titles I've mentioned - you should give this movie a look.

I watched this movie when I was younger. I had to show it to my boyfriend. It's cornices is amazing.

Good family movie but minus one star for the choppy copy (repeatedly pixelates and jumps from middle of one scene to next resembling a poorly ripped pirated copy...) Not the first Prime Video hack-job (other videos have had garbled audio tracks or out-of-sync descriptive audio obscuring dialog for example...) I recommend buying a dvd to appreciate the full movie...

Still as good as when I was a kid!

Star Kid is a lighter film in the repertoire of Joseph Mazzello, and is the first movie where His name heads the cast. He carries this movie almost solely by himself. This is a fun FAMILY sort of film of the lighter sort and makes for a good time watch.But, there is more to this movie. The vast number of close-ups of Joseph's face (when he is inside the alien-built cyber-suit) is a STUDY in good acting-concentration. I never knew that Joe's face was that expressive ( and while we are on this topic, did ANYONE catch Joe "pulling a Bugs Bunny" with his eye brows, in an early scene of Simon Birch?). Anyway, my point is that Joseph has a RARE and magical face that is wonderfully expressive. Star Kid is solid, and a fun flick to watch over popcorn or hot coco. For those who are BIG Joseph Mazzello fans, this film is "Sine Qua Non"--indespensable--for your collection.You see more of him than anyone else and he carries this film from A-to-Z.Best of all, it is Joe's first significant work at lighter fare/quasi-comedy. Popcorn anyone?

Star Kid is an incredibly funny movie for all ages. It is a story about a planet that ejects a special "combat" suit to another planet to protect it so their enemies could not get a hold of it. As the the special "combat" suit crashes on the planet earth this kid discovers it. After discovering it he gets into the suit and can't get out for sometime doesn't realizing it's a "combat" suit.The hilarious element is putting a kid in a super suit and see what he does with it. There is only a few elements of the movie that are sad. Won't get into spoiling the plot for readers but the mix of a few sad parts along with the funny times makes for a fulfilling movie. Highly recommended as a family film.

This movie was cliche and childish but that's what I love about it, I watch it as a kid and I never knew the title of the movie til now, although frame was pretty small it was 720p

Speedy arrival, and good value for money. A good addition to my collection.

funny that but i do still love it. classic 90's children's sci-fi adventure with wicked looking alien designs!

This film is very hard to understand

Watched the original of this when released, and it brought back alot of lughs and fond memories for me, especially as I remember trying to make my own CY suit....lol

it may me old but it made me feel young again. laughing with tears streaming down my checks at the antic's of the main characters. well worth a watch.
