Content/Style excellent, shame about the numerous ERRORS
I think that the content of the book is excellent, the teaching style and overall subject matter are superb, and the speed of the knowledge-proression is perfect for any newcomer to the topic.*** HOWEVER ***There are an infuriating amount of mistakes that must have been produced by the person that typed it up, and subsequently missed by the proof-readers! The standard disclaimer at the front of the book which states that the content is on an "as is" basis, is frustrating since numerous errors occur in examples of code fragments, table listing numbers, images that appear in the wrong figure when referenced to the text, not to mention the typos.

It starts well but....
I have the box set which contains "Visual Basic in 21 Days" and "More VB in 21 days" and also the Working Model VB CD rom.Well, I have been pottering through the book, managing about 3/4 chapters a day. That is until Day 14 - where I encountered multimedia controls - this is not on the CDrom therefore I can't do the example. But I carried on. Until I got to ActiveX controls - brilliant I thought - at last something really useful. Only the program doesn't contain the ActiveX Addin bits. I am now losing heart with the book. The Bonus Projects are all very well, but I still can't see a use for VB programming as it has been displayed in this book - and by day 17 of 21 I would hope to be trying my own little programs. Furthermore, as the fully-functional CDrom clearly isn't fully- functioning I am having difficulty getting to grips with the more meaty bits AND there seems to be no-one I can find to ask whether I am loosing my marbles or whether there are really important features missing from the CDrom. Finally - I still haven't worked out whether I can upgrade my wroking model or whether I buy a new version of VB - but now I've lost interest totally - and anyway it'll all change with .net! And then I'll be starting all over again

A poor book filled with errors - will frustrate the novice
This book is aimed at the newcomer. The second line of code is incorrect and from there it goes downhill. Many examples are very dull and it makes one think, "Why bother?"The chapter on ADO databases makes all kinds of assumptions that the novice user will find totally bewildering and ignores the structure of the sample database in terms of structure (field types) and referential integrity.Unless you like bug hunting I would not recommend this book.If VB6 is new to you, look elsewhere!

good
I have always liked the Sams teach yourself series. I have used many different ones for many different languages. Nice.

A Thick Book
The author wants additional for the source code for this book. The code comes on 3.5 disks. Have you checked the price of blank CDs lately? Perhaps he should take advantage of the new technology. Anyone doing Visual Basic has got to have a CD. I would have given this book 3 stars, if the book contained a CD with source code. It is about average-- no better no worse.

Not for the beginner
You'll need to be really focused if you're starting from scratch with this book. By the time I got to Chapter 5 I realized I had to re-read the first 4 Chapters. If you want to be sure all examples you create actually work, you may want to purchase the disk he offers in the back (separate purchase), because some of the code they give you doesn't work. I had to go out and get a more basic Visual Basic Book before I took this one on again. Not for the beginning programmer in my opinion.

Too Many Errors
There are so many errors in this book I wonder how it got published. Very disappointing. Programming is so exact and to find errors everywhere is crazy. I Unfortunately can't recommend this to anyone.
