Q: Is this white and not transparent?

I did not buy this for myself but I understand that while it is not transparent, it is not a solid white either. Somewhere between the two!

Q: Can this be used for mouth taping at night?

Yes it can, especially if you are a nose breather. It may be harder if you are normally a mouth breather as you could push it off with your mouth exhalation or take it off with your hand in order to get a breathe thru your mouth. There are places that sell mouth tape but this solution is so much cheaper if it works for you
