THIS CAR WILL SCREAM AT YOU
I bought this for my car-happy kiddo's 5th birthday because he wanted a toy car to match Mama's car, and it turns out that neither popular 1:64 toy die cast car brands make a RAV4. Since this one is 1:32, it's quite a bit bigger than a Matchbox or Hot Wheels car, but I think he'll still be happy with it. It looks pretty good, though some of the paint rubbed off on the plastic bands that keep the lift gate closed in the packaging. The doors, hood, and lift gate open and close, though the doors in particular are very difficult to get open even for nimbler adult fingers. The pull-back mechanic works decently out of the box, but it doesn't feel like it's going to hold up to a lot of heavy use. But seriously, if you value your sanity, take the batteries out of it before you give it to a kid. The sound effects are so loud that they startled me and I almost dropped the thing on my foot. The sound effects are activated by opening the doors/rear hatch/hood, and they don't even really match up with anything. For example, when I opened the passenger side door, it started making all sorts of police siren racket. Why does opening the passenger door trigger a high speed chase? Not sure. 🤷🏻♀️ Also, once a sound effect has started, it's not going to turn off until the recorded sound clip is done playing, but you're going to have to listen to the whole thing at full volume whether you like it or not. There's seriously no off switch or volume control. The only way to prevent it from screaming random car noises at you at full volume is to physically take the batteries out. This also means you'll need a p1 screwdriver, since the panel that covers the batteries is screwed on with a small Philips Head screw (I used a PH1 to take it off). That's good for safety, but it definitely feels like you're trying to disarm a bomb if you're just trying to get the thing to shut up while it's doing its best impression of a NASCAR race.
