Kenwood DMX709S Multimedia Receiver (No CD) Compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto (Renewed)

Favorite unit by far. Was on the fence between the Kenwood and Alpine. Glad I went with the Kenwood!! Screen is sharp almost like a smartphone, and seamless apple play. 4 volt preamp outputs Fr, R Sub. countless amount of adjustment if you choose. Front and Rear camera options. Hi vis on a sunny day. I could go on and on. I use amps on all channels so I cant speak of the power output on the head unit. Btw it half the depth of most units which is a huge plus for the installation.

I normally would not post negative 1 star review, unless my experience was very, very bad. I purchased this head unit dmx709s for one of my vehicles, along with a maestro rr interface and maestro manufacturer vehicle harnesses. I've been in car professional stereo installation, and automotive repair for over 20 yrs. I have not had a experience quite this bad with Kenwood,in some time. The unit was a refurbished unit, and looked as though it was through Kenwood. I noticed,the unit had a "burnt electronic" odor to it ,but as do a lot of electronics, it can be a common thing. After installing the unit in the vehicle and programming everything, the unit started displaying a "warning DC offset error" message on the display after a month time. After emailing Kenwood multiple times, they finally answered back, stating,....there was a speaker miswire ,or speaker grounding issue. I removed the unit and rechecked all the connections, and did not find any issues. I emailed them back ,asking if there was a diagnostic procedure to determine which "speaker " was causing the issue ,or if it was the head unit itself. I later determined with there advise to directly connect the unit to power and see if it was still displaying the message. Which it was. After all this, I emailed back with the defective diagnosis, and they said that it has to be within a 90day warranty period, that I send it in for repairs, and if it's not in that time frame,..(which I'm now out of because of the back and forth/and diagnostics)..... repairs, shipping, and costs will be at my own expense. Seeing is though this unit is obviously defective, and the not so great customer support and service,I'm scoring the unit a 1 star. A good company, would back up their products if they care about their customers, and image. This is still in the process of being resolved, and I will adjust the review as it unfolds. So far, the unit was defective after a months' time, and the customer support has been horrible.

Great receiver. Apple CarPlay works great and tons of other features. Would definitely recommend. Bonus points if you pair it with the maestro RR module!

Best head unit I've ever owned. Tons of features n tuning abilities

I bought this renewed and I haven't had any trouble with it whatsoever. It was a welcomed upgrade to my 20+ year old car. My only regret is that I didn't spend a little more to get the version with wireless android auto instead.

The head unit came with a minor scratch which was expected, but my main question is how long will this radio last. So far after I did the install everything work fine except for the usb mirroring feature not sure if it is factory flaw or the repaired issue. It came with all the harness, Bluetooth mic and gps antenna but it did not came with the extended wires for the safety parking brake so I had to purchase extra wire. Radio does have a mini HDMI port but you will need to buy the cable separately. I like the clean sound quality and adjustment feature to control the music frequency which makes it more compatible with my aftermarket amplifier speakers and subwoofer. So far Apps are very limited to radio and I guess because of safety reason video apps are not available at default which is a downer but not a deal breaker. The Radio does give my old dash a new look with a more modern radio and I think the price for radio is fair and affordable. If technology does not advance I would buy again but because newer car radio is always adding new and more features I most likely will not buy again.

Kept not turning on incrementally. Software was glitchy and it stopped working altogether. I bought a different model and had software problems with apple car play. I think I will stay away from Kenwood in the future.
