I'm new to making sushi and the kit has everything I needed. I was a bit intimated but it came with decent instructions and my rolls came out looking better than I expected. It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of it but it was worth the effort. It's a lot to clean up so it's definitely an activity, but it's a lot of fun with friends. I'd say this is a great starter kit for sushi making! It came in a cute festive package great for gift giving.

Item comes in a nicely marked box. All the materials pictured in the description were included. Unfortunately, there was no manual to tell you what each item should be used for. I thought the ducks were just for decoration. I had to refer back to the Amazon page. It would have been nice to have some tips on how to properly use the avocado knife or nigiri maker. I still don't quite understand what the cotton bag is for. For this reason, I don't believe it would make a great gift for a sushi novice.Some materials appear to be quality, while others are not. The wood items are ok. All plastic items are a cheap plastic.The sushi bazooka comes with an instruction guide, though the instructions were not overly clear. I figured it out, and it worked well. It was a nice tool, so I didn't have to roll the sushi myself. I worry about the longevity due to being poor quality plastic.The sushi knife was sharp and able to slice my salmon pieces. It cut through the sushi rolls well.

I got this to make sushi for my boyfriend. He loves sushi, and always picks new rolls when we go out to eat. I have made sushi at home a number of times, but always find my rolls don't look very nice. One of my favorite things about this set is the high quality mat for rolling sushi. I will no longer have to roll using a piece of parchment paper. This mat will make my rolls look uniform and hold together. Another feature is the rice molds. They are so handy! I will be making bento boxes as soon as he opens this set for Christmas.I couldn't help opening the set and inspecting the pieces. This set seems high quality and compact enough to store in a small kitchen. I love the number of things you can make with this set and truly cant wait to start cooking with it!

CUTE!!! This sushi making set for kids is the complete and real deal sushi making kit you'll be proud to give! First off, it comes with a sushi chef's hat! How cute is that? My nephew who is 11 is a budding chef. He has a palette for fine foods and enjoys sushi so much! This set comes with everything from the sushi form to the avocado slicer to the rice scoopers and bamboo mat, even all the serve ware, like chopsticks, dipping bowls, and even chopstick rests shaped as mallards. So cute!!!There's even triangular molds so my nephew can make those cute triangle sushi to go for his lunchbox.This set is extraordinary and it's such great quality and you'd be proud to give it as a gift! It's nothing short of a professional set!

The only "sushi" I've ever had is at the local all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant. So...I'm not really able to do an expert review. But what I can do is tell you that my daughter LOVES sushi and I thought this would be a fun activity for us to do while she visits. What I can say is that the box it arrived in is very attractive. I opened it and took everything out so I could make sure it's complete. I can't wait for my daughter to see it. I'm also going to get her whatever she needs as ingredients to make us some sushi. I've managed to locate some sushi recipes only and they don't look hard at all. This is going to be fun! I do wish this would have come with some type of a recipe "book" or at least a few ideas to get us started. Then again, she may know all about that! Hopefully we'll have a great time and end up with some good tasting sushi.

For newbies, trying to make sushi, this provides all the basics required to get started – and then some. About the only other thing that is needed, other than the ingredients, is an instruction booklet but googling will result in numerous instructional videos that will guide you. Look for instructions on prepping and cleaning the mat for that information as well. In addition to the mat, there is a tool for making the rice ball for nigiri which has a paddle to extract the sticky rice from the tool.The included sushi bazooka simplifies making rolls. The chopsticks and wooden wasabi bowls are not as essential, but nice to have. There is an avocado knife, as well. The scoop on the handle of the knife works well with soft avocados but I prefer a firmer texture that does not work as well with the scoop.While you are searching the internet for instructions on making sushi, I highly recommend you research the selection and use of raw fish to avoid food poisoning or ingesting parasites.Just a head’s up – the box is adorned with Christmas images and greetings which might not work well if you are getting this for a birthday gift.

I've always wanted to make my own sushi so this looked like a great option. This kit certainly has everything you would ever need, as a beginner, to make sushi.The quality is .... ok. It's not a genuine Japanese made kit - it's made in China. I'll use it but what I don't like about this kit is that so much of it is plastic. To me, this makes it look 'cheap'. (The knife handle is awful !)As it's a kit, it would also have been nice to have included a few starter recipes, though that's not a deal breaker.Definitely a great gift if you have a sushi loving friend or relative.
