Tough, break resistant plastic that should last years. Weight of liquid is a lot but plenty strong enough.Not cheap at nearly £10 today's prices but still consider it value compared to alternatives.Italian, so will need to remember raised relief numbers on sides refer to litres.

Although this jug is normally bought for wine/beer making, I will be using this is my bathroom for washing and rinsing hair. This means no more extra mess in shower and no complaining of soap in eyes, less stress less tears. Thanks amazon this jug is solid and will take any damage inflicted upon it.

This jug is big and strong, with smooth contours. I find the handle perfectly adequate - it's the five kilos of liquid capacity that make it seem heavy - you could always place a hand beneath the base if it's too heavy to lift by the handle. It was well packaged and promptly delivered.
