Vox - Valvetronix VT20X - 20W Modeling Guitar Amplifier - Black

Ordered this as my amp recently died on me (R.I.P). It's an excellent little amp. Lightweight and easy to carry with one hand. The tone from this little beast is awesome, comes with lots of presets and can be connected to your phone to edit. Only downside is the USB cable needed to connect doesn't come with the amp so will have to update review after I've ordered one. Very loud and powerful for a 20watt Does everything you'd ever need really.

This amp as a great sound, the effects can be a bit tricky to select (check out youtube), but once you have the knack this amp will not disappoint. It as some great sound effects and it feels well made, the knobs feel quality to the touch and the sound out of it sounds bigger the the unit states. my only gripe is the on off button sticks in sometimes.

There are three models of the amp: 20watt, 40watt and 100watt versions, appearing to differ in volume only. I purchased the 20watt version. It is nicely made and, physically an ideal size for practising in the bedroom. The 40watt would be suitable for use in a large room and the the 100watt for gigs. it has a headphone socket to avoid annoying the neighbours. It has a valve instead of just solid state and this adds to a warm tone. it is a 'modelling amp', ie it has a lot of programmed different sounds, including those produced by particular full-sized amps, eg 'Vox AC30', as well as various 'stomp' pedals such as flanger, chorus, phaser and overdrive - this means that a new guitarist can get used to the sounds these pedals normally produce without spending upwards of a £100.00 on each. My one criticism is that the handbook is and poor assumes that the guitar is a teenage whiz-kid who know all about connecting mobile 'phones and laptops; in this respect it is no different from any other electronic gadget, but I have been playing since the 1960s and I am going to need help to get the best out of this amp. It has the ability to connect to a laptop via a USB socket but no cable is provided. When connected to the Internet via a laptop the manufacturer has made a wider range of sounds available. I have marked it down to '4' from '5' due to my comment on the instruction booklet. If you want a first amp for you teenage son or daughter or a practice amp for you ageing rockstar. Look no further.

This amp did not disappoint. The presets sound great and if they are not to your liking, connect it to your phone or pc and start tone lab where you can build your own FX chain and tweak the sound to your exact liking. I was a little disappointed that they do not supply a cable to connect to your phone/pc so bare this is mind. Once you get your head around the controls this is a very loud and quality sounding amp, the clean channels are beautiful, as are the crunch. For the money I think you will struggle to find better.

Just acquired this and so still to give it a full run-out. First impressions are great. The size is good and manageable for rehearsals or a small venue. The features are credible even though I suppose will require some effort to get to know and wield them successfully. The sound is deep and mellow giving not only good sustain but a clean enough sound when necessary.

Great sound, but USB connection to tne laptop stopped working after three weeks. Extremely disappointed

Superb! This was bought for a Christmas present for my son whos playing has elevated over the last year or so, this is ideal , a few steps up in quality from his last Amp. All I'll say is, what a difference a quality Amp can make.

This is a very good amp, fairly good effects, the presets are ideal for lovers of distortion sounds,which by the way i am not. But good clean type sounds with delay and reverb can be got. All in all ,l am very happy with it and would recomendit without hesitation.

Meine Meinung über Amp aufgrund sehr vielen verschiedenen Bewertungen die man im Internet, gerade in Foren zu lesen bekommt. Es gibt viele die sagen das dieser Verstärker für Anfänger geeignet ist. Mit diese Aussage bin ich nicht so einverstanden. Es gibt einfach viel zu viele Einstellungen und Möglichkeiten das Sound zu ändern. Für einen der sich nicht auskennt kann das verwirrend sein. Gerade Anfänger sollen üben und Gitarre spielen und keine Zeit mit Amp Einstellungen, die wirklich unendlich viele sind, zu verschwenden. Hier ist weniger mehr. Ich selber spiele schon seit 40 Jahren E-Gitarre. Habe mich schon ein paar mal erwischt beim spielen mit Amp und ToneRoom App. Das üben bleibt da gerne auf die Strecke. Natürlich möchte man so klingen wie seine Vorbilder, dafür gibt es viele Verstärker die viel leichter und einfacher einzustellen sind. Am besten in Laden gehen und sich beraten lassen. Das Amp selber ist ein Hammer. Er bietet alls was man braucht um im Wohnzimmer oder Keller zu spielen ohne das die Nachbarn ausflippen. Das Poverlevel Regler macht das möglich. Beeindruckend ist das sich nur die Lautstärke ändert ohne den Sound zu beeinflussen. Dank die Röhre im Vorverstärker, reagiert Amp auf die einschlagstärke erstaunlich gut. So habe ich das bei vielen anderen Transistor Verstärker noch nicht erlebt. Mit ToneRoom Software gibt es viele Bekanten Amps, modern wie Historisch. Die klingen auch sehr gut und nah an die Vorbilder. Hätte ich mir so ein Ding vor 30 Jahren gewünscht. Damals ging ja nur laut. Clean, Crunch oder zerre, mit richtigen gitarre, klingen fantastisch. Selber spiele ich am liebsten meine geliebte alte Strat. Clean oder mit Crunch ein Ohrenschmaus. Eine Paula mach ordentlich Druck und reicht bis hin zu higain Sounds perfekt. Wie gesagt auch leise. Also liebe Gitarreros, für alle die wissen wie man ein Amp mit Pedallen und Effekten einstellt und bestückt, gibt es von mir eine absolute Kaufempfehlung.

For beginners, I think this product has too many controls and it might confuse them. But it is a dream come true for advanced players who know how to adjust the guitar tone/pick up/volume knobs along with amp settings to find the “sweet spots”. It is excellent for room or home-studio use. Warning: experiencing it might prove to be a gateway to the amazing world of premium amplifiers (and the costs it entails!)

Alors là ! Mon meilleur achat pour un ampli de guitare électrique. WOW! Cet ampli coche toutes les cases : je fais de la guitare depuis plus de 20 ans et cet ampli me permet de jouer pratiquement tous les styles. Pour juger la qualité d'un ampli, il faut évidemment avoir à la base, une bonne guitare, de bons micros, de bonnes cordes et de la bonne connectique, à partir de là, vous allez exploiter au maximum votre ampli. En ce qui concerne le vt40x que j'ai pris, il y a tout ; - La puissance - L'esthétique - La beauté du son, grâce notamment à son préampli à lampe (on a même, du chaud, du froid, etc, il y a juste à appuyer sur des boutons pour changer la couleur). Et franchement, la différence entre cet ampli numérique et les stars des amplis à lampes classiques, Fender et compagnie, ne s'entend pas vraiment, ou alors difficilement pour certains réglages, et cela est dû justement au merveilleux préampli à lampe qui est intégré à ce fabuleux ampli. Quelle prouesse technologique ! Grand bravo tout de même aux concepteurs. - La pléthore d'effets intégrés est assez large et démultiplié en passant par le logiciel, on peut régler indéfiniment et enregistrer les sons que l'on veut. Personnellement, je n'utilise maintenant, que très occasionnellement mes pédales d'effets. Il possède les plus importantes, cela suffira largement pour les amateurs sauf si on cherche vraiment un effet très spécifique. Il faut juste prendre le temps de bien lire la notice pour apprendre à le maîtriser, rien de bien compliqué non plus. - Les réglages des basses, mediums, aigues sont très bien. - Le pédalier à 5 boutons vendu séparément est fabuleux aussi, je l'ai pris et ne le regrette pas. À vrai dire, je m'amuse comme un gosse avec tout ça et je prend énormément de plaisir à jouer, le son est fabuleux. Seuls bémols : - Le câble ne sort pas directement de l'ampli, il y a un petit transfo comme pour les PCs portables - à voir la solidité des boutons de réglages dans le temps - Le bouton d'allumage semble un peu fragile, un interrupteur classique pour amplis aurait certainement été plus judicieux. - Attention et Attention aux tympans : Quand on change le sélecteur des simulations d'amplis pré-enregistrés d'usine, le son passe de moyen à extrêmement fort ou inversement, pensez d'abord, à réduire le son avec le sélecteur de volume avant quoi que ce soit. À l'aide du logiciel, vous pouvez équilibrer la hauteur du son, que vous enregistrerez dans la banque utilisateur, ça sera déjà ça de gagné. Bilan: Vox ont vraiment fait fort sur ce coup là.
